I managed to get my hands on a new VKB Gunfighter Mk.II with the MCG stick. Love the gimbal and the stick is great for Eastern Bloc aircraft, but I am not a fan of some of the 4-way switches. I have an old Suncom stick that I’ve been meaning to convert to USB and thought there might be guides out there that will allow me to make it compatible with my Gunfighter base. Alas, Google is letting me down. I can’t find anything about making a DIY VKB stick.
Have any of y’all done this, or ran across any guides on how to wire and program it? I know that at the end of the day I can just clamp it to the extension and run a separate USB cable for the buttons, but I’d much prefer to have a drop in stick…
The older VKB Black Mamba that I had, could be programmed to use thrustmaster handles.
So, you could make your Suncom stick TM compatible, when you rebuild it.
Or, just rip out the electronics of the VKB handle, and put it in the Suncom? Or maybe copy the electronics of the VKB?
Ha, I didn’t think of that. Ironically, making it Warthog compatible was the original idea in the first place. Putting in a Warthog to VKB adapter afterwards, though… Unfortunately, part of the reason I want to do this is because the Warthog to VKB adapters are extremely hard to come by!
I’ll give this one more thought. I’m converting my Suncom throttle to USB at the same time, so while I work on that I can figure out the best approach with the stick.
