Voice Attack

I have the paid version thanks of both vaicom and voice attack. It’s taking some working out but am sure will be worthwhile

Look for this page in the VIACOM manual, near the back…

Thanks I have done everything I believe is correct. Now in game I have unassigned any button press for the hatswitch the vaicom software needs. When I press the four way switch and use key words I hear a squelch but no one responds to my voice. Also the radio dialogue menu in dcs pops up both on key press or when it feels like it. This makes using mouse impossible until you get rid of the fkey radio dialogue

LCTRL+LATL+C brings up the Vaicom Pro window.(Outside DCS) Under the Preferences tab you should see options you can check or uncheck. Check the Disable menus option and the Comm menus in DCS wont come up.

So Im not sure how you are set up but if you are not on easy comms you need to make sure the correct radio is being used. Also make sure you are on the right channel.

For example in the Hornet you have Comm1 and Comm2. For me I have Comm1 set up as TX1 on Vaicom Pro and Comm2 set up as TX2. So if I program comm1 with the freq I want to talk to but activate TX2 to talk no response will be given.

Also if you look at the Voice attack window and say the command you are trying to do. You can see if it understood you.

Also if the command is recognized you should hear a beep after you let go of the comm button

I swapped to easy comms as I thought I had too. Will revert back

now getting a message in the dialogue window of VA that there are no ATC recipients to talk to.

If you are in game that means you are not on the right channel. So if nellis is 132.550 and you are tuned to 130.550 you cant talk.

If that makes sense.

Also you dont have to preface your command with the airfield. As long as you are tuned to that atc you just need to say inbound or request engine start. Voice attack knows it’s meant for the atc you are tuned to.

So Vaicom and SRS actually work together- both have updated their software to play together for a while.

I finally got it working so I could ask for startup and taxi in an A10. Further learning is required

I have tried on three seperate occasions to get the thing to work. However, the utter failure of “Flight, engage bandits” or “Awacs, Bogey Dope” to consistently and promptly yield results has led me to look elsewhere to make those things happen.

Is my accent that thick? You guys have heard me speak. Sure it’s not proper the Queen’s English but I’d like to think I’m fairly intelligable.

I find the more I do the Windows speech recognition software the better it is. Certainly its frustrating and I just wonder what the neighbours thought of me shouting go finger four repeatedly and loudly.

Hope this isn’t against the forum rules, but I image your neighbors reacting to this like the punchline of this Key & Peele video :P. (warning: NSFW): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fG_Uj7zPvmI

Nah, you should be good.

It works for my accent (most of the time). I just had to make sure to set the windows voice recognition language to English.

Just my experience, if I say AWACS Bogey dope I get nothing but if I just say bogey dope they respond.

Perhaps I should reprogram it to react to “where them bishes at, motherlover?!” :stuck_out_tongue:

Also I believe the manual said something about it but…

I noticed last night if you pause a second or 2 after AWACS and then continue it recognized it more often then not.

So instead of

AWACS BOGEY DOPE

I said

AWACS…BOGEY DOPE

Not sure if this helps

This. I either make that pause after the recipient (cross check the VA window to see the “waiting for input” queue and a little beep if activated in the options) followed up by the actual command or simply shout out the command on the right freq.

Been using VA/VIACOM for about a year and now that you mention it, I’ve had to be more deliberate with my speech, kinda like talking on a radio, and it seems to help matters.

Shoot, my wife’s new car pushed this state-of-the-art voice recog. system. It rarely works for me. VA/VCP work better (actually it’s Windows speech recog. I guess)
