Yeah, I also just realised that a simple horizontal resolution divided by HMD FOV will not work
Though such comparison makes sense more than just pixel per inch density.

So how about your experience with the Reverb after three weeks of use?
Would you recommend it over the O+?
Thanks!
Milan
I absolutely love it - particularly after I paired it with the O+ controllers, which I think feel better. I also havenāt had to do any ācomfort modsā to the headsetā¦it feels good out of the box (except for that elephant trunk of a cable). Iām a seated player, so the cable doesnāt bother me, but if I were playing a room scale type thingā¦I donāt think it would be greatā¦and I donāt think the cable would be long enough anyway.
Iāve been lurking over at Reddit and there definitely seem to be a lot of hardware issues with it that seem to fall into several categories. Overheating that might be leading to the displays dimming. Flickering that might be related to the power requirements and motherboard (maybe). And some people are reporting red smearing. I havenāt seen any of these problems, so I donāt know if it related to which batch you get, or what. But be on the lookout for any hardware type problems.
Quick question, do you wear glasses under the headset or is there another solution? It looks like widmo is working on insets for them.
Yeah, I just sent WidmoVR an e-mail last night asking if they were working on Reverb inserts - Iāll buy them the day they come available.
Iām wearing āsmallā glasses under my Reverb right now. They are comfortable enough, but nothing compares with inserts in my opinion. I have two pairs of glasses, one are smaller and one are largerā¦and the larger ones DO NOT fit comfortably in the Reverbā¦they are too wide. The smaller ones feel fine.
Iāve also worn my contact lenses with the Reverb, and as with any VR headset, I feel contacts increase my perception of a wider field of view, but I donāt think it is actually true. But I see better with glasses than contacts (not in VR specifically, just in general in the real world) so I prefer glass lenses over contacts when I want to see better.
Thanks for the hw related tips. I will probably wait till the thing is sold in Europe from some trusted reseller (if a return becomes necessary).
Wouldāt the O+ inserts fit in the Reverb?
Based on the reports on Reddit, I would definitely only buy from a trusted retailer that allows returns or exchanges. I would not pick one up from the secondhand market.
The O+ inserts do not fit the Reverb, they are different lens geometry. It was the first thing I triedā¦
Yeah⦠just asking about the inserts since mine for the O+ should be in production any time soon
Looks like they are working on adaptors for the reverb:
Cool. Man, I should go get my eye exam prior to ordering.
Iām not done with this thread. Away from home for a bit and not able to further testā¦but more forthcomingā¦
so with all the cord problems around would you suggest to buy a reverb now or wait a little more!??
Also curious about this and heat issues.
Even if you wanted one could you find one?
Not that I know of. Hopefully, HP is working in a Reverb+
I donāt think the stiff cord is really a deal breaker for seated play. The flickering and/or dimming that is being reported IS a concern and my recommendation is to only buy from a retailer that allows a no-penalty refund. I would definitely not buy a Reverb used. I absolutely love mine, but the reports seem frequent enough to proceed with caution.
There are 10 Reverbs showing for sale (1030 GMT) on Amazon this morningā¦I got an e-mail alert. Againā¦buyer beware with regards to hardwareā¦and Iām not sure exactly how Amazon returns go:
Only 1 used set showing an hour later.
Wow just wow. Clearly demand is there if HP can get their act together.
Heads-up for European buyers: it seems the HP Reverb hit the shops also in Europe (Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlandsā¦).
Just google 6KP43EA#ABB.
I do hope it is the 2nd generation. Most likely I will pay a visit to the retailer here in Lux to enquire and check it out.
