That’s great. And hopefully they are the 2nd Gen versions. Whatever the case…I would always highly encourage people to buy them from a retailer that allows for a no-penalty return. I would definitely NOT buy one from a second hand seller (eBay or similar). Just based on the number of hardware issues I think it is too much of a gamble to not have a quick and easy return option.
I just got a reply from one Belgian distributor (the Lux ones is outrageously expensive) and…
… it is good news
“I confirm that the models in stock in Belgium are indeed of the second generation, without the problems of the first generation. … HP Belgium has certified us that the problems of the 1st generation are behind us.”
So yeah… even though the prices are a little higher than those in the US I will pull the trigger.
Funnily enough, this comes right after I invested into all possible comfort mods for my O+ (VR covers, Widmo lenses, headstrap) and therefore I will not capitalize on them so much. C’est la vie though.
Only now I am not sure whether to keep the O+ or to sell it. Maybe I will keep it at least for a few months to see that the 2nd gen Reverb is indeed OK and sell it later.

In another thread there was some mention of turning VR headsets into guacamole serving bowls … “guac” is very popular in the States right now…
So today I have also received a box of “not shoes” along with my new GPU (tears are still coming to my eyes whenever I think about the price of that tandem).
And my wife hints that tonight… if the kids fall asleep soon… we could… you know…
Obviously I am chosing the righ option
Play Monopoly?
Lucky dog! I’m still waiting for my replacement box of shoes. Sigh. But the good news is that I’m reading that the issues do seem to be solved. From all I can tell, nobody is having any issues with the newer units. Fingers-crossed…
Hehe…I love “playing Monopoly” with the wife …oops, that was my outside voice…
Yeah, since the prescription lenses for my Reverb are still on its way, it had to be “Monopoly”
I hope so. Though according to the serial number of my Reverb, it was manufactured in June (25th week). So I am a bit unsure.
Anyway, lately I have seen few quite not-so-positive reviews (reddit, Tyriel Wood) which really makes me curious about the new experience
I just received my Reverb from HP yesterday, and as the resolution improvement over the O+ is really impressive. However, how do I know if I have one of the newer models that should be less likely to have the issues seen at launch?
Good question.
I got a confirmation from “my” reseller who got this confirmation from HP Belgium directly.
Besides, the box includes also a plastic piece that should hold the connectors from the headset to the PC secure. Otherwise… I can’t really say. Time will tell…?
Apparently, the three digit part of the serial number (look inside on the left side of the headset) shows when the headset was manufactured - mine shows xxx925xxx - so 25th week of 2019.
Good luck!
Ultimately, if it doesn’t scramble your PC like it did @BeachAV8R’s…you probably have the newer model.
Just received notice from B&H that they are back in stock. Finger hovers nervously above the Buy button. What say you gents?
I say: if you are into flight simming, push the button
My 2nd Gen Reverb works frawlessly till now and I am literally rediscovering all “my” planes in the VR. Yesterday it was the ERJ 135 from AYGN to AYPY in P3D - and yes, I could see the PFD and MFD without leaning in
You guys are really no help trying to maintain healthy finances and relationships. Reverb inbound Monday. Will most likely adapt @BeachAV8R method of using the Odyssey touch controllers.
Cool. Can’t wait to hear how it goes. My replacement should be arriving any day now hopefully…!
I see that the Reverb is now available from HP UK for £598.80 including VAT so it is very much back on my short list. I have an RTX 2070 so will that be sufficient to get going with the Reverb? Thanks
Based on my experience with the RTX2070S and the Rift S I have my doubts if a 2070 can decently run the Reverb in DCSW.
OK, thanks Aginor.
Hmmm… It should but like everything, “That depends”. In this case, I would think it would depend on your DCS graphics settings. True my RTX 2080 “goes to eleven” as it were, but I will check my settings and FPS to give you all a better answer. At the end of the day, what you don’t want are the jitters / stutters like I have seen too much in XP11 and just saw recently in DCS when I turned up VR pixel density to 1.5.
