What exactly was your company’s part in this project?

It’s not bad. 
We develop spatial audio rendering solutions for game studios (we also have other customers, but we do mostly contract work for them while the gaming stuff is our own products).
In this case, they licensed our plugin for fmod (the audio engine/middleware that was used). The plugin essentially grabs the position information of audio sources in the game from the audio engine and renders the audio played by the source to the audio output format specified by the audio engine.
In fmod we support all formats that the audio engine supports, so binaural, stereo, quad, 5.1, 7.1 and I think 5.1.2 and 7.1.2 off the top of my head, with binaural being the most fancy. The spatial rendering and sensation of directivity works best with binaural over headphones, because we can pan sources above and even below the listener, which is not possible with loudspeaker based formats.

I graded for the green belt (yonkyu) today! Half way up there!
Exam went fairly well. I did not expect performing alone before everyone to still have such an effect, so I reverted to techniques I know well and executed them as slowly as I could and still got told I rushed a few 
Anyway, I got me a new belt and my kids shall be greatly annoyed by me having outpaced them. My eldest is one grading away from getting green himself.
Kids in my club get graded twice a year and get strips on their belt to indicate progress. So the boy is going from green on amber to brow on amber, meaning he’ll make green belt next grading. But us adults go whole grades, if only once a year (or less). I also spend a whole lot more time on the mats than the kids so yeah.
Next up for me is the blue belt. I will have to put in some serious work to gain it. Looking forward to the journey.

More controlled is the right phrase More subtle. As a white belt I was a right F’in menace because all I had was brute strength and no technique , subtelty or knowledge whatsoever. Injuries happen that way Now, I feel confident playing with the elder members of the dojo, as well as the ones who are bigger and stronger than me.

4 weeks ago, I figured out that the deadline for a certification exam my employer had bought for me almost a year ago was Dec 12.
Now, for some context, the exam is CKS - Certified Kubernetes Security Specialist. Like the other Kubernetes exams, it is a hands-on exam where you get a terminal with vim, some CLI tools and a browser that can only access the official documentation. You then get 16 assignments to fix problems and deploy apps, for which you have 2 hours. You have to be pretty fast with the tools and really know your way around the documentation to complete enough assignments within that time. It is a LOT of fun though, you really feel like a God coming out of that exam if you do well.
CKS is the most difficult one of the bunch. I had mostly spent my time this year on playing with my homelab (which had also taught me a lot), but neglected to start studying for CKS. I was under the impression that I could use the Christmas holidays to study a bit.
But I had way less time than I thought. So for the past 4 weeks, I studied every spare hour I could find. It was surprisingly relaxing in a way: I did not have to think what to do or decide on anything. Just study.
On Monday, I had my exam and not only did I succeed on my first try, I even completed all the assignments.
I’m very proud and when I heard the result yesterday, I celebrated by writing a blog post with tips for others considering this exam. 
Today is my day off and, just like when you take a day of rest on a long hike, I am suddenly feeling very tired.

BTW: was any of the CLI tools available by any chance `k9s`?

I love k9s but on the exam, you only have kubectl (and curl with jq if you’re a masochist) to interact with the Kubernetes API.

Not for me but for my wife.
She has finally decided to attend some art classes and I think she is doing rather well?
They are still working with different mediums - oil, water colours, pastels and pencil.
