Amen. I have always thought that Knopfler is up there with the great guitarists, Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan, etc.
I was lucky enough to see them live during the Brothers in Arms World tour. Myer Music Bowl, Melbourne. I had an Uncle who was a rep for Sony and he got free tickets… Not quite front row centre, we were about six rows back
