While taking christmas decorations out of storage, I came across my giant zipper pack of CD’s labeled “Hair Band”. I’ve been down the rabbit hole ever since. Def Leppard is and will likely be my favorite band for life, but the glam rock scene in the 80’s and 90’s was EPIC and produced some incredible & iconic songs. Kix was one of those bands, and this song was one of their best. It’s been on repeat.
What’s interesting about this performance is how well Collins’ backing vocals works over Gabriel, more so than Rutherford’s IMHO. Phil’s vocal dexterity is very much evident and a preview of him taking the lead role performing the song live after Peter’s departure. When one considers Gabriel’s and Collins’ body of work after the breakup, it’s hard to hold any long term resentment.
Yikes! Have not checked in on these guys in a while, and now the raps are so fast I had to replay, not to mention I suspect a lot of people may not get the exact historical references…
These guys have advanced!
I agree, I just wish they would post more, like the old days. That’s serious talent.
Oh, and Henry Ford for the WIN!
JFC that was beyond wittty.
Love hearing the Lamb live!
Well I gave you a like because I couldn’t quite give it a dislike…
Whut’ was that!?
Folk? Semi rock? Country? What was with the outfits?
ARRRGGGGHHHHHH!!!
I cannot quite pin down The Dead South either.
They are Folk, but also kinda Bluegrass-ish. Very dark lyrics usually.
Nah… I have to give it to Marx. Henry had rhymes (and some disses) But I think the Marx stuff was cleverer, more erudite and likely had more work put into it.
I could probably write Henry’s stuff in an hour, but the Marx stuff… That was grammatically above and beyond.
Maybe I is just stoopid’ but even that Dung from a Taurus line was such a nice double entendre that I was thinking Ford Taurus (and not quite getting it) for days before I realized that was also a cool way of saying Bulls***
(I also missed the Brazil-nuts one)
Their song “In Hell I’ll be in good company” is awesome and on my daily rotation for work.
As for Ford vs Marx. Go team red!
Here, be weirded out some more:
Nina Hagen.
So… that’s whut’ Maleficent looks like in real life…
Without delving into politics, I just can’t ever bring myself to ever cheer for Marx.
You meet all kinds in the Army. I never deployed there, but a guy I knew did have a ‘Holiday in Cambodia’ in 1991… He was only a Private (might have been a LCPL) at the time, but he had studied philosophy and politics at university & would often regale us with the pros and cons of various systems. And he was a big fan of Marx.
Apparently he got into a heated argument with a couple of former Khmer Rouge about good old Karl and ended up ‘schooling’ them in Socialist theory
Did he survive? Those boys don’t play.
They way I hear it, very tense at the beginning but at the end they wanted him to take over their local Cadre…
But yeah it was some serious business and it wasn’t until years later that it actually got recognised as ‘warlike’ i.e. Active Service. Intitially it wasn’t, so those guys were missing out on a heap of veterans benefits.
You are not far off! She has played both Snow White’s evil stepmother and an evil witch in fairytale movies on German TV.
She’s a legend.
…but also mad as a hatter.
