Have you never seen Harpo or Chico play??? They were awesome!
And of course Groucho was way ahead of his time. He was cracking jokes in the 30s that wouldn’t be dated today.
So yeah, team Marx! Just don’t mail them your copy of the Grail diary, of course…
Oh man I enjoyed that a bunch! The “niceness” of the bluegrass strings and close harmony singing brings out the utter fook’n metal in those lyrics somthing fierce. Love it.
The complexity of the Lyrics of this… are fairly unusual for todays music. It strikes me as more like a transcribed poem, where you provide the context from within yourself.
Speaks to me…
The living room’s different Was the heart of my home Now I feel like an insect In my dome
But I blink and then you’re gone In shock I wonder where the day’s gone Now window cleaners, heavy solvents Are removing my reflection, projection What once was clear Vision out to the road Is now a mirror An unfortunate hole Yet I swear as I close my eyes I hear calls from the other side
Go unlock that door Do it before I quit being cutesy and pound en force I start a storm Prepare the boulevard To hear me from afar I’m gonna cry hellish every night 'Til you light me on fire Hope I quiet If I don’t croak I’ll be angry 'til I’m down in a stone I’ll be laughing when you deal with my soul
The pressure’s off No changing it for all that I do, it’s like If I show eagerness I lose a new room to Another looking glass where should be light As if it’s been there this whole time So I sink down to the carpet And remember what I’m made of I’ll never know how all this started But I’m not just gonna give up
Go unlock that door Do it before I quit being cutesy and pound en force I start a storm Prepare the boulevard To hear me from afar I’m gonna cry hellish every night 'Til you light me on fire Hope I quiet If I don’t croak I’ll be angry 'til I’m down in a stone I’ll be laughing when you deal with my soul
Look in from the outside Glass clear as a bulb The soft wings of an insect I’ve outgrown
I know I post a lot in this thread, and that my tastes in music are…ecclectic, but I had the vynl out tonight and thought I would share one of Billy Ocean’s lesser known but really good song from when he was still singing motown in 1976.
Really? Thats interesting. It seems to me people here only know him for his 80’s pop. Specifically “Carribean Queen” and “Get outta my dreams (get into my car)”, which I also really like. But his motown sounds are fantastic. “L.O.D. Love On Delivery” is excellent as well.
Fun Fact: Caribbean Queen was originally written as American Queen. His agent didn’t think that would play well in certain markets, so they changed the name.
