Garbage has been very hit or miss for me, but when they get it right, their work is pretty good IMO. I really like this track. Just wish the rest of the album was this good.

It’s about the Spartacist Uprising in 1919, right? That said I’m mostly listening to it because it creates an odd dissonance between what sounds like an average upbeat 70’s pop song, and lyrics that are definitely not from the average upbeat 70’s pop song.
Yes, its highly political and referring to the early beginnings of the German Communist Party in 1919 with the usual pathos of keeping up the fight.
And yes that guitar is quite funky. This was surprising me as well. Quite a contrast. How did you find it?
Erich Weiner Ensemble seemed to be some sort of musicians and theatre group in East German army. Had to read that on Wikipedia because I’m not that old to remember

Beginning with saying that whatever music is your taste, nobody should say anything… I’ll go on and say that no matter what you do in the privacy of your life, nobody should ever tell you you’re wrong or anything. 
As long as it’s among adults sharing the same feelings.
