Prompted from a post on the DCS Update thread
āItās time to get medieval. Iām going in for guns.ā ā¦they just donāt write romantic lyrics like that anymore!
Holy crap, I saw them on that tour. Youāre really hitting my Hipster side hard.
Quite the mix of soundsā¦Indian, some dub-step in there, strings, (African?) drumsā¦
Iāve seen String Cheese Incident several times (and theyāll actually be at Floydfest this summer), and theyāre great fun in concert:
And Iāve only recently discovered Beats Antique, but Iāve managed to catch them three times in concert in the last few years, and those are equally fun shows, especially if youāre there with somebody who will dance. Lots of dancing at all their shows, for obvious reasons.
Apparently the two bands are friends, and have wanted to collaborate for a while, which makes this even moew awesome. Plus, that video was from Red Rocks.
Didnāt quite catch thatā¦,your cat interrupted youā¦yes, she was awesomeā¦was there something abut a band too?
Bruh. Got a new Youtube channel to follow now.
Definitely check out the other two videos in that series.
I have a strong dislike / prejudice vs electronic music, but that just opened it right back up for me, thanks!
The intersection of live instruments and electronica has gotten more and more diverse in the last decade, and it gets fascinating some of the directions itās going. Looking at you, electroswing and neotango.
Still this is music as engineering. Like bach was more of an engineer than a musician. Itās cool, and even has a little soul (especially the bit done by the asian dude) but it comes nowhere near living persons performing on analogue instruments.
I like almost any sort of music, as long as it has soul, as long as itās real. This is interesting:
As is this:
Or this:
And this:
as long as it aint:
because that **** oughta die in a fire.
Since you posted some Nahre Solā¦ I really enjoyed this video from her. Iām just starting to dig into all the content she has posted.
That lady is a freakinā genius. The thing she does is not easy. It almost sounds like proper blues sheās playing.
What genial about it, oozing virtuosity, is that sheās out of her musical comfort zone and comes so close to getting it right. Sheās at home playing chopin or beethoven in a fancy living room, not the seedy whiskybar ambiance of the blues.
Why am I saying close to getting it right instead of just nailing it? Well, she plays too perfect. Blues, and by extension rock (and therefore also metal and punk) needs to be a little rough around the edges. It needs those blue notes to be a little false, dissonant, just a smidge out of tune. Because thatās where the raw emotion is heard. The bending of a string, hammering on those keys that are just a tad out of tune. Making the thing cry or curse or wail.
Anyway I love her and her technical stuff is way the F over my head
Wow! All those years playing the saxophone, I was really playing the Blues! That explains why all my music teachers and band directors were always so āblueā after they heard me play! (my Blues sunglasses)
Yup just like thereās an audience for hyperviolent torture pr0n horrir movies, tyour saxophone style just never found its right audience
I listen to all types of music. Most of it is crap, but there are gems in every genre.
But since you mentioned the bluesā¦

May have already played this, if so apologies but I really like the concept.
