Dr. Nolan is definitely a scientist and the work he’s doing is awesome! Thanks for posting!

That’s fine, and I respect your opinion. But did you watch (any of) it?

Personally I’m agnostic when it comes to the subject of extraterrestrial intelligence. But when a tenured Stanford professor with his reputation and list of achievements comes out and makes these claims, I have to sit up and take notice. The way I see it, he has little to gain and much to lose by doing so.

I’ve been aware of him for some time. YouTube ads are such a PITA that I rarely watch stuff unless I know I will get a good education for suffering through. I do read and listen to a couple of regular skeptical sources because I find the human desire to believe in pseudosciences fascinating, if not sometimes a bit frustrating. There are massive benefits to people of authority who promote pseudoscience (looking at you Gwyneth) because the market for non-skeptical and motivated believers is limitless.

There’s nothing “pseudoscience” about Dr. Nolan. I’m going to leave it at that. I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again … take a hike @smokinhole. (I say that with the utmost respect)

I’ll respectfully not go hiking. But thanks anyway for the kind suggestion. The guy is brilliant for sure. And I was mistaking him for someone else when I suggested he could benefit financially with tapping into the belief systems of those who thrive on this sort of thing. He’s made his fortune the honest way: by converting his knowledge of biology and genetics into a marketable product. Good on him for that portion of his life’s work. It’s his contribution to ufology that I will never buy into until the day I am abducted.

You had me until you said that. Such an ignorant statement. Lets just end it here.

PLEASE read his bio … he’s not just inventing stuff. He’s also doing Cancer research amongst a bunch of other stuff that will benefit humanity …

Wayne Gretzky on the Smartless Podcast! Wayne’s dad once told him, you’re not big enough to play tough guy hockey … you have to use your head and play hockey like chess! Another good one his dad told him … god gave you two ears and one mouth for a reason … you have to listen twice as hard as you talk …

Cheers for that.

It is a crying shame that things didn’t work out for Dan at McLaren. IMHO he is a better driver than Webber and I think he is one of those guys that will go down in history as one of the best drivers that never won a world championship but should have?

Can’t recommend this enough. USN pilot who scored 4 MiG kills in a 1 v 7 during the Korean War. Absolutely incredible story, plus he flew everything from the Bearcat to the Phantom including combat in Vietnam as well as Korea.

I’ve got his book on order, as that whole situation was really, really personal for me; two of my very good friends, one I’ve known since A-school 23 years ago, and one I’ve known since undergrad 12 years ago, were in Reactor aboard TR at that time. Further, I knew AOC Thacker- we were on Reagan together, and made First at the same time.

I will definitely be listening to that when it ‘unlocks’. I Just did a quick search to see what it is about and read this:

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/04/03/opinion/coronavirus-crozier-roosevelt.html

Nothing changes does it? As much as ‘they’ would like us to believe that those who speak truth to power are valued, the reality is that they hate it when somebody does… In this case the irony of the two Theodore Roosevelt’s is the icing on the cake.
