What we watching? – Mudspike at the movies

Body of Lies (2008) with DiCaprio is somewhat similar but waaay better than Land of Bad.

Same. Given the extraordinary lengths he went to in order to accurately portray navy life and warfare in Master and Commander, I was shocked by his “f— off mate, you weren’t there” attitude towards historical accuracy in Napoleon. Blackhawk Down seemed legit as well, but I haven’t dug into historian’s opinions on that one like I have the others.

Ridley Scott didn’t direct Master & Commander. That was Peter Weir.

Oh and don’t forget his masterful turn in Les Miserables!
Have you ever heard a more wondrous singing voice than his?

I’d rather listen to Russell Crowe sing than Yoko!

Horizon: An American Saga, pt. 1

Kevin Costner apparently has had this on the burner for a decade or more. He’s been obsessed enough by it to quit Yellowstone and make the film, haters be damned. Reviews have been tough at best. Its theatrical run was just shy of two months. Now it’s on Max. I liked it. Or rather I liked the idea of where the story seems to be headed. The three hours of “chapter one” are high in violence and light in dialogue and plot. But nothing says “cinematic” quite like a western. And it’s the wide panorama of the film that carried me through to the end. Those of us old enough may remember seeing Costner expensively embarrass himself with the unwatchable Waterworld. He might be doing so again with this one but it’s a better effort. The film ends abruptly and confusingly with what at first seems like a montage but is really an oddly inserted preview of what’s ahead should they cut part 2 (and beyond). I’ll gladly watch if he does on the hope that all of these intersecting arcs will somehow gel into something sensible.

LOL, okay it’s crass but I watched “Jackpot!” and it was so pleasantly enjoyable!

Perfect cast, funny story and overall enjoyable action!

From the same director- I liked “Spy” Spy (2015) - IMDb more but…

These films have not been released yet but I will most definitely be watching both “Gladiator II” and “Megalopolis” when they come to theaters later this year. For those of you who may not know, “Megalopolis” is the long awaited project by Francis Ford Coppola.

FINALLY saw Deadpool and Wolverine a couple of nights ago. That first fight scene had me DYING laughing; we just watched “Dirty Pop,” the documentary about Lou Perlman and his boy bands, with a lot of interruptions from the 4 year old hearing the music and needing to dance. So there’s been a lot of NSYNC in the car and the house the last couple of weeks

Can we talk about terminator zero on netflix.

Anime, gory and absolutely AMAZING

I’m on ep 3 and its incredibly well done. But I’m a huge fan of terminator. All of them. Except genisys.

The boy is going hard into all the Transformers shows on Netflix, so I’m excited to maybe see this one with him:

You have to remember, as a geriatric millennial, that was the soundtrack for my most questionable years of going to the clubs.

Especially as a decent dancer, it brought back memories.

And a LOT of judgemental glances and smirks from my solidly GenXer wife.

As a very early/geriatric GenX myself, I can sympathise with your good wife

As someone who turned 13 in 1980, the decade that was literally my teen years was defined by really bad fashion. But I’m honestly not sure which is worse, 80’s pop or boy bands? :stuck_out_tongue:

welcome to my life … the wife is a massive N-sync / backsteet boys / Newkids on the block fan … over the years I have been dragged to see the Backstreet boys at 3 different shows and the combined backstreet/new kids one they did a couple of years ago … with the popularity that Nsync are getting from DP& wolverine … i can see them reforming and touring …and you know what that means

Asking for a friend- is it dangerous if a friend lends you their Login credentials for Netflix?
I read somewhere that the company was trying to stop it…
Do I endanger my friend’s account if I ask them to share?

I take your NSYNC/Backstreet boys fan wife and raise you one Celine Dion fan wife!
