I hadn’t thought of that! Could well be!
Either way, it was a lot better than i would have guessed. I almost didnt want to go see it. I loved the book

Started with
The Russians Are Coming the Russians Are Coming (1966) - 2 hours 6 minute run time
A Soviet officer and crewmen go ashore for help after their submarine runs aground off Nantucket.
Carl Reiner, Alan Arkin, Jonathon Winters, Brian Keith, & Eva Marie Saint
Great cast but for me this 1960’s comedy fell flat.
The Hallelujah Trail (1965) - 2 hours 45 minute run time with an Intermission
On its way to Denver, a cargo of whiskey destined for the miners is sought after by the Temperance League, the U.S. Cavalry, the local Indians, and the miners themselves.
Burt Lancaster, Jim Hutton, Donald Pleasance, Lee Remick, Brian Keith, Martin Landau playing an Indian…
Another stellar cast, and another miss for me.
So to save the day for me I watched an old John Wayne classic I knew I would enjoy.
The Horse Soldiers (1959) - 2 hours run time
John Wayne, William Holden, Constance Towers, plus Denver Pyle, & Strother Martin in minor roles as Confederate deserters.
The movie is loosley based on Grierson’s Raid. A fact I did not know until just today while making this post and countless viewings of the film over the years.

A nice high point yesterday was when the CAPCOM on Artemis noted their findings she replied back to them ‘Amaze amaze amaze - that’s great!’. Thought that was funny.
The Russians are coming…
It has been ages since I have seen that, but I can’t help watching it through nostalgia goggles. I must have been only six or seven at the time and quite ill. Dad let me stay up and sit next to him on the lounge while we watched it.
Had I been much younger I think the broad comedy in the movie might have worked better for me. I have the same problem now with the Jerry Lewis & Bob Hope movies I used to love as a kid. Watching them again as a much older adult they just do not have the same appeal for me.
Vera Cruz (1954)
Gary Cooper, Burt Lancaster, & Cesar Romero.
During the Mexican Rebellion of 1866, an unsavory group of American adventurers are hired by the forces of Emperor Maximilian to escort a countess to Vera Cruz.
Even though, I thought, I was a huge Burt Lancaster fan I do not recall having seen this movie before yesterday. Some of the plot points were easy to spot but I still found it an entertaining diversion and would recommend it to anyone that says they are a fan of the Western genre of movies.
Jack Elam, Ernest Borgnine, & Charles Bronson have minor roles as part of the American group escorting the coach occupied by the Countess on the trail to Vera Cruz.

Watching it now, “Prime” Thanks.
The Night Manager
A mini-series on Amazon Prime
loosely based on John le Carré novels
The first series a couple years ago was great, and the second one now does not disappoint, either. Hugh Laurie is a great villain.
A bit like what James Bond movies could be, if they weren‘t completely bonkers and over the top.
I love it and recommend it.
That looks really good. Added to playlist.
Went to see Mario Galaxy at the Cinema with my kids.
Mamma mia!, it’s bellissimo!
Slightly better than the first for me… I will totally buy it once available on streaming sites.
Pine Gap is a great mini-series on Netflix. I didn’t even know this place existed before this show. 4.5 out of 5 stars.
On my way to Kenya I watched three movies, three absolute bangers
Fackham Hall
Predator Badlands
Sinners.
Holy carp… Stunning stuff.
I need to see this! Thanks for the reminder!
Such a good film and wasn’t what we were expecting. The better half doesn’t do horror, yet she loved it.
Enjoyed it,Thanks ![]()
I’m glad!
As a fan of British murder mysteries and movies like Airplane!, I feel like this movie was made AT me. I loved it SO much.
I had to watch it twice in a row, as I am not a native English speaker and I knew I had lost some jokes along the way.
OMFG. I was literally in tears. Brilliant!
Oh man, subtitles. Always subtitles.
Agree, but on the plane there weren’t for that movie.
