Here’s another one of the new Autobahn bridge being build. It’s gonna be an 8-lane highway bridge replacing the old 4-lane bridge.
They are first finishing the eastbound segment 14.4m south of its final position. Once this segment is finished, traffic will be diverted from the old bridge over to the new segment and the old bridge will be disassembled. They will then build the westbound segment in its place and divert traffic over to it while pushing the whole 4-lane eastbound segment 14.4m to the north into its final position.
Modern engineering is mindblowing.

Took the family to our local soccer club’s match with Louisville yesterday. The Charleston Battery have relocated to the Patriots Point stadium, so after the game, we went over to watch the sunset in the shadow of the Yorktown. Was one of those perfect everything sunsets. The kids were making fun of my eyesight and driving because I inadvertently parked on top of a cone.

Haha, my wife just about ripped the inner fender off of our Honda the other day backing over a cone. I was yelling “Stop! Stop! Stop!” and waving my hands but of course she couldn’t hear me. This was at the airport in front of our hangar, and the cone in question had been there for decades guarding… well, something… I dunno what it was for, but it’s no more now. It had hardened in the sun, turning a burnt pink color like a pencil eraser, rendering it unyielding. The new Honda’s have inner fenders made out of milk carton plastic, and the veteran cone nearly turned it inside out before I could get her attention. Then she tried to go forward…
