A 262? That’s hot!
Birds of a different kind… what makes you think we’d just put fresh fatballs out?
btw note the wise Great Tit sat at the top of the pole waiting for the hubub to die down.
Phone shot through triple glazing so not the clearest
I see you have fat balls. Nope, it’s just the way I walk.
Didn’t known there was a flying 262 …nice wonder what engines it has …if they are the original or new
They are modern engines inside of replica Jumo fairings (GE if I recall correctly). No way anyone would let you fly original engines with all their reliability issues
This.
Correct. They sound lovely
It was planned before Paul Allen passed away for the Me-262 that belongs to the Flying Heritage and Combat Armor Collection (FHCAM) to be flown, at least once, with the original type Jumo 004 engines. The remanufactured engines are expected to have a 300 hour service life as opposed to the 25 hour service life of the engines during WW2. We will have to wait and see what the Walton family plans to do with the Me-262 now that they have acquired the collection.
FHCAM - ME262 First Engine Run-Up (September 25, 2019)
On September 25, 2019 the Flying Heritage and Combat Armor Museum celebrated a momentous day and ran the Jumo 004 engines on the ME 262 warbird expected to take to the skies soon.

That’s pretty cool, thanks for the Info
Now that’s a good boy!
That serious face in the second pic!
Yeah, not really looking forward to my trip out to KRIV later this week. 105F temps and preflights.
I really really really tried to queue to go inside the Kc135 at the airshow and channel my inner @ST0RM but it was just too damn long.
About to try French pizza. I think this is going to be great!
Real wood oven, proper Italian names in the menu, and no spelling mistakes. Interesting, there might be some real Italians behind this place. Inquiring minds want to know…
Edit 1: we don’t start well, I asked water without gas but the waitress understood the opposite. Whatever, I don’t speak French, my fault… This is on me.
Edit 2: the order was complex, one entrée and a pizza with not one but two variations.
I am confident it will be OK because even if I don’t speak French I can point with my index finger pretty good.
Edit 3: music is stunningly and solidly firm in the 70s and 80s and whereabouts… “We’re on a road to nowhere”, “I need a hero”, “Take my breath away”, “Two Princes”. Not bad but nostalgia hurts the hunger…
Edit 3-b: “Wild boys”
Edit 4: OMG the smell in this place is amazing…
Edit 5: she forgot the entrée but the pizza looks out of this world.
Edit 6: the entrée is delivered halfway through the pizza. Not convinced but at least they did it quickly
Edit 7: The pizza was extraordinary - more notes to follow but thin crust, pleasantly loaded, passed the “slice fold” test
Edit 8: the entrée was worth the almost complete debacle of the service.
Edit 9: I’m seriously conflicted. The place is surprisingly expensive, all things considered, BUT the pizza is so good I’m going to order another. Oh yes.
Edit 10: the “Olio piccante” is disappointingly ineffectual.
Edit 11: ok the music is messing me up badly…
I mean Limahl’s “Neverending story”?? Samantha Fox’s “Touch me”?!? This is by design, no Radio station! Going to get to the bottom of this!
Edit 11-b: Ha! It’s a Playlist. Ok ok, I’m willing to let almost everything go, but I want to shake hand with whoever made the Playlist.
Edit 12: when the waitress (young young young) came to pick up the empty dishes apologized profusely and the grandpa in me just reassured. Nothing terrible happened and the food is so good that there’s no issue…
Edit 13: asked a pizza Margherita. Waitress is surprised but happy.
Edit 14: I’m going to spare you, my dear readers, the rest of tear-jerking Songs that are literally strafing my heart.
What’s next? Italian fries…?
Bon apetit!
brilliant AAR …
Ok, going back to the hotel happy and satisfied… Will amend my above post with some minor details.
