Thinking about it I’ve been going out pretty late in the day; still seems light enough outside to me but I think the camera may have other thoughts about that.
And yes, speaking of manufacturing luck I have been eyeing birdbaths! Doubt the falcon will be dropping in but plenty of little guys around that wouldn’t mind a free drink I bet.
When it comes to luring ‘wildlife’ even with a tame cow that will eat out of my hand I used some bait to attract one of our Galloway steers to get him where I wanted.
When it comes to wildlife photography there are some essential requirements for good photos: knowing your camera and its limitations, a lot of patience, good light (golden hour is pure magic imho), luck and most importantly knowing the behaviour of your subjects.
For birds you can set up a feeder or hang up food in a free standing tree that is not too tall which helps with perspective and separation. Personally I prefer natural branches over feeders that are often plastic or metal.
Thanks, yeah that was pretty cool. Unfortunately I was about an hour too late and missed some spectacular light with the low sun coming through a break in the clouds as well as some pretty cool birds.
I talked to some ornithologists that were at the location and I had just missed the sea eagles, there also was a pair of golden eagles but they had already settled for the night when I arrived.
