Where Are You Photos [2023]

For sure, thanks, that’s a good point.

Thinking about it I’ve been going out pretty late in the day; still seems light enough outside to me but I think the camera may have other thoughts about that.

And yes, speaking of manufacturing luck I have been eyeing birdbaths! Doubt the falcon will be dropping in but plenty of little guys around that wouldn’t mind a free drink I bet.

When it comes to luring ‘wildlife’ even with a tame cow that will eat out of my hand I used some bait to attract one of our Galloway steers to get him where I wanted.

This turned out OK:

But had to be quick… like a fat kid on a cupcake he was… :stuck_out_tongue:

I can see it, but I think he might be a panda in disguise and spying on us for the CCP

Besides. Don’t mention the Mouse if we aren’t paying royalties… We don’t want to get sued

The mouse isn’t a mouse anyway, he’s a possum  Hamish is one cool little dude, may he grow up tall and strong and wise.

Eeeeh…I was thinking of a totally different Mickey… Yeah, that’s right! :scream:
Damn! They are going to come for Hamish now, won’t they? :fearful:

We’ve been amazed at the variety of little feathered friends our water bowls have attracted - most coming along for a bath, rather than a drink.

PS - I vote for “Sooty”

When it comes to wildlife photography there are some essential requirements for good photos: knowing your camera and its limitations, a lot of patience, good light (golden hour is pure magic imho), luck and most importantly knowing the behaviour of your subjects.

For birds you can set up a feeder or hang up food in a free standing tree that is not too tall which helps with perspective and separation. Personally I prefer natural branches over feeders that are often plastic or metal.

Snapshot of the sea at Miami Beach this morning:

A very unusual sight for a land-locked person like me.

Perfect example of luck even though I was too late for the best light (almost sunset, pretty cloudy)

This is a slight crop straight out of camera, no editing or noise suppression.

Great capture. I love watching crows chasing raptors. It like watching a WW1 DF…

That’s too cool.

Thanks, yeah that was pretty cool. Unfortunately I was about an hour too late and missed some spectacular light with the low sun coming through a break in the clouds as well as some pretty cool birds.

I talked to some ornithologists that were at the location and I had just missed the sea eagles, there also was a pair of golden eagles but they had already settled for the night when I arrived.
I created a quick collage:
