I did, thanks for the education!
Back Home, rain is coming tomorrow
Beautiful short holiday though, I am regularly going to include the Maasduinen on my cycling adventures and I discovered some amazing new roads in my local area. In the past I mostly stuck to the Rhine and the hills along the Ruhr (I massively enjoy going up climbs) but the flat country side has its charms, especially with roads like these
Looks like Neo made it out!
I should really rent an 800mm F5.6 the next time I go to this location. King Fisher at the Bislicher Insel
Woah! I re-discovered one just like that in HL2:VR Mod tonight and couldn’t resist going over and picking it up. Somebody had cut the cable though, probably Combine.
Too fancy for him!
On our balcony this morning just as the Sun was coming up.
Male King Parrot (Alisterus scapularis)
And his Mate.
He is beautiful! What a nice thing to wake up to!
Nowhere near the quality of the rest of the photography of the other shots here. But a nice view from the station
Lots of flooding near my house from Storm Babette, starting at the bottom of the drive, the back garden is also awash. Hopefully this won’t happen this year. First photo taken about 5 miles away during covid. The rest are taken today. We made a good choice buying a house on highish ground.

Outside my house is not as bad as my immediate neighbours. The wooden gate on the right is mine
My neighbours are about 20 feet lower than us
The view at 1400 outside my house front wall
That’s awful! Good luck, hoping it doesn’t come up any more.
A gentleman I used to fly with flew helos in the Army (CW5, 38 years!) and went from UH-1>CH-47 about mid career. He said he liked flying the Chinooks a lot more because they were always doing something good like dropping haybales in blizzards, water on fires, or sandbags during floods. Not out hunting for drug grows with the DEA like the UH-1 guys were (he did some of that too, funny stories).
Good luck and all the best. Stay safe
