Yes, salamandra salamandra, they’re native to large parts of Europe.

tail flickers I imagine. Would scare the crap out of me as a kid. Flicks tail > me running away, screaming

Speaking of salamanders and newts  None are native to Australia bu the Smooth Newt has been introduced into the wild near Melbourne and has started to spread. Probably released pets.

Are they edible?

I guess that all depends on how hungry you are?

lol, I shouldn’t laugh…

On a less serious note. A lot of amphibians are poisonous, but you are talking to someone who has eaten Luncheon Meat - Type II… straight from the can… cold!

If I had the choice I would be taking my chances with roast salamander :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

The cane toads (also introduced… deliberately… which was an absolute disaster!) will probably eat them…

Though, evolution or learning or both in action - the crows here (corvus coronoides) have learned to flip the cane toads onto their backs before eating them so they don’t get the poison glands…

Moms skipped Monday and finished everything except the top border row yesterday Tuesday September 17, 2024.

I will make a wild prediction that she finishes it today.

Pride mainly. Few dings underneath. Sat on the bloody subframe spinning the wheels. Had to get the wife to rush out and drag me out with hilux.

Never even saw it it. Pulled up, got out got jacks out and the van dropped through it while my back was turned. Thought a bloody car had hit it

Ugh! Well, on a positive note, nobody was hurt and your van is still functional.

Initially I thought this was a client and was confused about the angst.

Hopefully easy extraction without damage.

Chill, laugh at it, move on.

My moment this week, tractor brakes failed when I really didn’t need it. Used the handbrake, no drama. Fix turns out to be no brake fluid in the rezzy. Also using wrong brake fluid…. All sorted and brakes are way better, but man… easy sheee eyet avoided.

Good grief Schurem that looks like a tough dig, looks like clay

And not sure but looks like you got a radio going as well. Sooooo what type of music you rocking out to. I’m guessing some heavier metal :slightly_smiling_face:

Yes, heavy clay. You could use it for pottery. It’s been the heaviest digging I have yet done. Yesterday the new kid, Dave, was there, today it was just me. Original plan was to have three people but circumstances and perhaps the prospect of heavy clay.

I call this work “kleibeuken”, banging clay. The Dutch word “beuken” doesn’t directly translate. Ramming, hammering, banging. Going balls to the walls getting something done.

The radio is on, but as the client was around, nothing too loud. The heaviest tracks in the playlist were Pearl Jam and Gogol Bordello.

Ya I hear you. When I play tennis with my buddy we crank my car radio and listen to lithium on sirius. Generally the music is not inappropriate to any kid or family who happens by.
