I feel this needs a clarification.
A steady wind, no matter how strong, can’t make an aircraft fly too fast in relation to its structural speeds as these speeds are in relation to the relative airflow. The key here being steady wind.
In gusty wind conditions, a sudden increase in headwind may cause the aircraft to exceed structural airspeed limitations, as this will momentarily increase the speed of the relative airflow. The flip side of this is that a sudden gust from behind may lead to a stall, if the aircraft is flown at speeds close to its stalling speed.
This is something that I’ve never seen in South Carolina’s Lowcountry, fluffy stuff that doesn’t melt in a day or two. Usually we complain about humidity and hurricanes.
Visited the old city of Antigua in Guatemala today. About an hour ride over there…just me and the other contract pilot. What amazing architecture…ringed by these massive cloud capped volcanoes. We walked around then decided to find some light hikes up into the surrounding hillsides. The views were spectacular…the unique tourist decorations along the way were not uninteresting. Every single person I’ve interacted with here in Honduras has been kind, warm, polite, and they clearly are making the most of often very little. I stood out like a sore thumb…but always felt welcomed. I can’t say enough good things about my short visit.
I have never been to central America, but that matches my travel experiences - more often than not, generosity is inversely proportional to how much ‘money’ someone has.
I bought some amazing coffee from Honduras. Did you try some on location?
I am not sure if this picture qualifies for 2025 but being just over ten years old I can now post it.
Me in 2014, having just qualified to be the Simulator specialist for the Italian Air Force Eurofighter Simulator HMSS
Almost like the real thing- just enough that I had to train with the real specialists for a while.
I could set up the simulator helmet and dress it up for whatever pilot was to use it.
OMFG…
Get out of here, STALKER
Cool stuff Kome!
Hahah thanks! Sure the job had its perks.
Sadly conditions were also absolutely ■■■■■■■ depressing.
I was impressed by the helmet. Really cool and if you notice, I could use it with my prescription glasses on.
Roomy yet light and comfortable. (well yeah I didn’t try it at 9 G of course…)
Distinct lack of AGM-118S on that.
Both planes movies are really fun.
Generic stories, sure, but just… fun.
Agree, enjoyed them greatly.
This needs to be in the mental health thread but it seems a bit petty to say this is stressing me right out.
I am seeing opportunity. Future sales and maybe a few bucks for those rims?
The worn tyres not so much. I don’t know about the UK but they are a PITA or expensive or both to dispose of here.
Edit:
WTF was I thinking. Those used tyres are a goldmine…
Wow!
If I had an old tyre I might actually try that! Awesome creativity. I would never have gotten that idea.
