The relevant XKCD:
I didn’t post the pre-stitch shot as I thought it was too graphic. I knew it was bad as soon as I’d done it. On a scale from 1 to “I’ve been shot”, it was a definite 3.4 on the bottom lip quiver scale. ![]()
- That would have been something.
Mountain Bike… in this case.
@keets looks sore man. how did the bike fair?
It’s not as painful as it looks. It was worse when the nurse cleaned it out.
The bike is ok, one of the brake levers is out of line and I need to check the can of the rear shock, it’s due a service anyway.
I found a video of the trail and the guy crashes at the same point I did (3m 15s in), though he rolls out, where as I dropped the distance.
All told I’ve been lucky and thankful I was riding with my wife who had some first aid.
Is that stone mountain?
It is - Stone Mountain NC though, not Georgia…
ouch, looks like the rear wheel kicked against that little rise, old tree bits perhaps?
Lovely trail though.
That’s a cool pic.
Wheels
Wow! You were not kidding about the huge fireflies / lightening bugs in NC. ![]()
I hear in Texas they have mosquitoes with lasers attached to their heads… ![]()
Corrected that for you. ![]()
So I had some skin cancer on my face that they removed sing something called Mo’s surgery (I asked about Larry and Curley surgery…but that is another story.
They stitched it all up and the doctor, a LCDR, started telling me about a laser treatment that he could do to reduce the scar.
When active duty, I rarely pulled rank. For this I pulled retired rank (if that really a thing) and made him do the finger quotation marks in the air, every time he said “laser”…after which If said the word “laser” I would also do the finger quotation marks in the air…it’s the little things that makes life so much fun.
F15’s.
Wonder if they are invading rural Northumberland ![]()
I was about to say the same thing as @PaulRix - I assume you are in the UK - so likely from RAF Lakenheath…which, if you are ever out that way, has a nice plane spotting location off one end of the runways.
English Heritage sites Grimes Graves and Castle Acre are close by…the garlic mushrooms at the Swan (I think - just behind my wife in the photo below) in Castle Acre are to die for.
I used to park my lorry right at the end of the runway at Lakenheath in the summer! Used to sit on top of the trailer snapping eagles as they roared over in the late evening sun…
I may have ‘feigned’ (read as lied) about a breakdown one morning as I knew they were leaving early and wanted to watch… Bad man.
