It’s all fun and games until some drunk @##:&*%/$! in an F150 sideswipes your car and drives off while you’re at a show.
I bet that it was loud
Not cool at all!
Damn did they also smash that cabinet? There’s gotta be some serious damage on that F150…
I got to tour the inside of that machine at the Dutch Air Force day a couple weeks ago, it’s far less decrepit than I expected it to be. Basically a big ol’ bus full of people playing old school harpoon.
Yep, took out the service feeder to that apartment building- Duke line crews were waiting on a replacement unit to come from a couple of towns over. And the police picked up several large pieces of front fender and bumper from inside the enclosure.
Took us til almost 5 this morning to get a tow and a ride back from the next town over (after finding this at 11pm).
Ugh what rotten luck. Go rain some Tötalhelldeath on some fools when you done sleeping.
Ugh…at least they will probably get the guy since they have pieces of his truck.
In college, a friend of mine, skidded she ice late one night and took out a fiberglass flag pole at a McDonalds. He checked the damage and aside from the flag pole, seeing none, continued on home thinking he’d go to the McDonalds the next morning.
Actually there had been a bit of damage… to his car. His license plate had been knocked off. The Radnor, PA police had little trouble tracking him down at home.
Sorry about the ruined evening NN. What an a-hole. I’m wondering if there is any video from adjacent buildings.
That ship looks a bit sad, though it looks like a lovely place to admire it too!
It’s already got at least 7 or 8 hours on it… Actually, I do wonder how many hours an airframe accumulates prior to being accepted by the buying airline. Certainly it has to go through several long duration evaluation flights as things are added to it…
Ahem, she’s in her prime, especially now that the cofferdam around her hull is finished and the water is slowly being pumped out. We’ll get into further hull restoration after the repairs to the visitor’s center are completed (part of the roof was blown off in the last hurricane).
I’ll be watching the fireworks from her deck on Thursday.
I was going to ask if that was a cofferdam. Keeping the mighty Cape Fear at bay is no trivial matter!
There’s also a walkway on top that runs around the entire ship and is free to access.

She looks good. Good to hear she’s getting some hull work done.
USS Missouri went into dry dock at Pearl in 2010-ish for hull work. The Navy said it would be her last time.
From what I understood is that a lot of the acceptation happens during the building proces by on-site engineers from the airliners. They are pretty much on call for inspection 24/7 when on site.
Previously the engines were lease engines from Boeing, to be then swapped for our own but I don’t know if they have changed that by now. We do buy the GEnX engines from the US too.
It’s quite a complicated process to say the least.
