I always thought it was so the debris didn’t fly into your face and scratch the $^##( out of your corneas, but that is another compelling reason…

The crescendo from white smoke to flaming wreckage of the 109 was absolutely a marvel to witness! :smiley:

Yeah, I’m not sure if this is a new damage model feature, but I never seen it before - plane slowly developing engine fire and after few moments pilot bailing out of that hot seat. it probably was there before but I always was pouring led until enemy plane lost vital airfoil or it exploded mid air ĀÆ_(惄)_/ĀÆ

Il2 damage model always was best in business. The recently upgraded one, yea it’s something else.
