Windows 10 borked by update

In the IT/Comms realm no. I was employed for a ‘different’ skillset. But I had people working for me and colleagues who did and prided themselves on working in that ‘slim area between the difficult and the impossible’.

I am a closet luddite because of the number of times where I have said “Wait. What. You can do that?”

and the answer was - “easy”.

Did they add Windows Mixed Reality back to Windows 11 25H2?

And are there now ads in the Win10 start menu? Don’t forget the ads!

Can you circumvent the TPM 2 requirement? I’m not sure if all CPUs supporting SSE4.2 mount to boards that include a TPM2.

Yes, you can, as you at the picture above, there is only the CPU with the SSE 4.2 instruction set that is mandatory to be able to install Windows 11 25H2. The MOBO is pretty old with no TPM, UEFI, etc.

But you need to use the instructions from the video, which means use the “/product server” switch.

Windows 11 is pretty garbage so there’s plenty of reasont to stay on 10. I am still particularly pissed about the active removal of of the WMR software.

There’s the Oasis Steam VR Driver that supports Mixed Reality Headsets on newer windows versions than Win11 23H2

Can‘t use Oasis as I just got a new AMD GPU. Oasis is Nvidia only.

Maybe some day, there‘s no rush.

Wait.

Additional notes:
Support with AMD Graphics Card REQUIRES using Windows 11 24H2 & up. See documentation for additional details.
Oasis Driver for Windows Mixed Reality on Steam

Yeah so there’s no reason to upgrade to 11. Besides WMR is not the only thing they FUBAR’d. MS can go suck it. Lets hope some day DCS will run on linux.

DCS runs dandy on Proton. The peripheral situation is a bit hit or miss, though.

Nice! Really need to give it a proper go then.
