Blast from tha’ past…
Damn I hate “AI” but I love Wing Commander. Thanks for posting!
OK here’s me being real and reacting (I’m guessing) some years late: They made movies from Wing Commander??
Part of Chris Roberts attempts to make his games increasingly expansive and cinematic.
His actual Wing Commander live action non-game movie was a flop, but he has persisted over the years, with his culminating effort being the long awaited Squadron 42…
As an interesting aside, a much younger me bumped into Ginger Lynn right around that time, and as I was uninterested in “other stuff” I asked her about her experience in the Wing Commander games.
She paused her appearance and spent the next half hour or so talking with me about how much fun she had on Wing Commander, and about Mark Hamills “rubbery lips”.
Ginger Lynn loves to talk about Wing Commander to this day. She really enjoyed her time making the videos for the games.
Edit: @smokinhole that’s a movie from all the video sequences of WC3 put together. I think there is also a WC4 one.
Thanks @Aginor. I might normally blame this on my boomerism. But Wing Commander came out when I was myself practically still a kid. My generation OWNS that game! The opening title sequence with the fireworks gives me a little chill when I recall seeing and hearing it the first time. What does any of this nostalgia have to do with a movie? None. Just reminiscing like a boomer over sipler times.
You are now officially my hero.
My brothers and I played WC3 voraciously, and still like to quote it. For instance, if one of us asks, “You ready to go?”, the answer is always, “Prepped, primed, loaded, locked, and ready to kick some ass.” And, “I have majors that do that for me.”
Such a terrible movie.
As a Wing Commander superfan I have read almost everything that one can know about it and it makes me really sad because I see what it could have been.
I think I have seen the movie half a dozen times, and I have found things in it that I like.
…but yeah, it isn’t good.
Yeah…
And I’m saying this as somebody who definitely had a crush on Saffron Burrows at that time.
