I just learned of the tragic mid air between 2 warbirds over Dallas. I won’t bother posting a direct video link out of respect. It can be found with a quick search. Thoughts are with those crew and families affected. Is Sport ok?
Update: Sport is in the B-25 which was not involved.
The utmost sympathy to all of the families and friends. Everyone involved puts their heart and soul into these aircraft, which in turn provide countless joy for airshow visitors, pilots, and armchair pilots. Tragic loss to the community and families.
It is amazing in such times what a small yet widespread community this is. I’ve discovered today CAF aviators in several other communities totally unrelated to aviation that I frequent.
After seeing the horrendous videos being posted on reddit et al.
Those poor guys at least didnt even have time to suffer. A small mercy in a great tragedy. I actually had a tear or two watching it unfold. Makes my little motor glider seem awfully delicate.
Hey guys. Thank you so much for thinking of me and checking in. The weekend (my very first time flying in an airshow!) was amazing up until that moment. I obviously can’t (and don’t want to) talk about any details, and the NTSB has an amazing amount of data to piece together exactly what happened and what went wrong.
Its hard to make sense of it, and I had a unique view of the accident that I won’t forget for quite some time. Be safe out there, and don’t forget to tell your loved ones how much they mean to you, every chance you get.
My envy of your experience stops at that point. How horrible, you have my condolences. I hope at least you can talk with the others who were there with you to work through it.
