X-Plane Releases Thread (2019)

Cool. I’ve been fascinated with the area ever since I read The White Spider by Heinrich Harrer detailing his climb of the Eiger Nordwand. I remember feeling myself sweat as I was reading that book.

Different locale but Annapurna by Maurice Herzog will also leave you in a sweat.

Yes - I read that one too. I went through a phase about a decade ago where I read all the mountaineering books I could find. I would also recommend Escape from Lucania by David Roberts (an awesome author):

I love this plane. New X-Crafts Embraer ERJ family. I’ve always thought the 135 was the sexiest looking of the Embraers…

Some screens I took yesterday…

One funny question : what is the fastest plane ( civ / mil ) available for XP11 that can utilize the NDB, VOR and ILS nav aids ? thx

Probably the SR-71 I’d guess. And as far as I know…it is VR compatible. I’ve never actually tried to use the navigation radios in it though…LOL…

Given the relatively short range of the NDBs in X-Plane, it might be a challenge to use the SR-71 and tune them

The 135 was the most fun to fly of the series as well. The 145XR was nice for the “power” and the range (maybe that also should be in quotes ). But the 135 was nimble and balanced, like a small corporate jet. It also only made financial sense for carriers who enjoyed cost-plus contracts with their Major Airline customers. Otherwise the thing was just ■■■■■■■ money away even when full.

[Btw, I made changes to my “Eiger” post a few spots up]

For me, it’s the fudged Tekton FMC that prevents me from buying it.

Not a release…but some images of the Q400 that FlyJSim is updating…!

Nice little mod of the stock X-Plane 172 that takes the pants off it. Wheel pants that is. I don’t know why, but I actually prefer planes without wheel pants.

Oh wait…I know why…because when I was working as a line guy decades ago I had a little accident with the Lektro tug (completely my negligence) in which I cracked the wheel pant of a Warrior. Stupid fiberglass appendage. Sigh. I guess if I’m paying $6 a gallon for gas though…I’d want them too.

Anyway. Take your pants off. Air out your undercarriage. Let your boys hang freely in the wind.

Man, that Cheyenne II is smokin’ hot! Carenado sure knows how to paint them, don’t they. Maybe since it doesn’t have a G1000 and is RXP compatible it will have minimal system issues. One can only hope and check the forums.

Honningsvåg, Valan Airport.
ENHV/HVG
The ”North Cape” airport is out for XP.

I fly in and out of this place regularly.
A 20kt tail wind on the LLZ approach, coming in from the north, will be interesting as you will have to make a quick decision of which of the runways will be preferable. 08 or 26?
Of course, southerly winds will give you mechanical turbulence…
