Carenado doesn’t do discounts as far as I know. The occasional sale but not discounts.
Man it’s hard to keep up with what is being made X-Plane 11 compliant, what is X-Plane 11 native, and what is X-Plane 10 that just so happens to work in X-Plane 11.
Any-who - if this news slipped through (it may have already been posted)…but the Thranda Kodiak has been updated to version 1.6 and when I look at my .ORG downloads the link has been updated…so I’m guessing that is just a free continuing upgrade for customers. Also remember if you bought the Kodiak Expansion Pack to download the 1.6.1 version of that…(I know)
And as usual - a reminder that everyone should wish Air Hauler 2 would come to X-Plane 11.
Version 1.6 Change Log:
Removed Carenado’s G1000 and related infrastructure (now using LR G1000 exclusively)
Added VR camera snap points
Caused prop to disappear when shaft is broken
Removed throttle limiter with realism on
Updated version splash screen on MFD
improved generator, battery, oil temp, etc.
Calibrated cruise speeds with new engine performance

Should we invest money and develop mudspike hauler?
As well, it looks like X-Life has been updated to 2.1 R1. Kudos to JAR for their in-game pop-up menu that always advises us of news regarding product updates and beta releases. In lieu of an auto-updater like the one Shade Tree Micro Aviation uses, this is a good secondary technique for keeping people up to date.
JAR X-Life 2.1 R1: Forum notes (link to update files is in the first post)
Some details for new feature v2.1:
- every time when you start traffic (I mean Deluxe version), your x-life plugin will send a request to the internet and “ask” to renew schedule info for your selected Arrival and Departure airports.
- this request executed on our server side and after this, actual schedule data come to our server from real-life data schedule provider.
- next - this data (sorted from actual ZULU time) come from our server to plugin
- so, your X-Life plugin have real schedule for actual ZULU time inside now
- next step - your X-Life plugin use real scheduler with this way:
- if aircraft library (Bluebell) have needed (exist in schedule) Aircraft/Livery for next flight number we will see it in traffic (for next generated slot) with actual Aircraft/Livery/ArrivalAirport/FlightNumber
- if aircraft library not have Aircraft/Livery for real flight, plugin will try to generate flight with Aircraft/Livery what exist for this airport in real schedule
- if no lack (like we mean most of GA flights) - autogeneration will use.
So, in most of big airports we will get a flights with real Aircraft/Livery/Arrival-Departure/FlightNumber flights and this is some improvement i think.
Interesting - Skyline Simulations will be converting ORBX sceneries for XP11.
https://fselite.net/news/skyline-simulations-team-orbx-bring-orbx-products-x-plane/
Skyline Simulations (formerly Icarus Simulations) have announced that they’re teaming up with Orbx to bring their famed sceneries to the X-Plane platform.
In a very brief post on their Facebook page, Skyline Sim announced the collaboration with one simple line:
“Great news! Now Skyline and ORBX work together to convert ORBX sceneries for X-Plane 11!”
The announcement means that Orbx join an ever-growing list of traditionally P3D developers that have realised the potential for their products on the X-Plane platform.
The EV-55 Evektor (which I flew around 10,000 miles to Christmas Island) has been updated to add the Laminar G1000…
Also VSkyLabs has updated their entire lineup (MANY of their lineup) to be VR compatible…!
Making the first impact: the leading VSKYLABS projects were updated with a fully functional VR “layer”, flown extensively during development in X-Plane 11.20vr1, and they are ready for VR usage and testing. That is including the use of a 3D headset, and the touch controllers. The VR “layer” allows you to fly and operate the aircraft solely by the VR gear (excluding rudder control, which is not defined yet with available/easy to implement VR solutions).
In the near future, all of the existing VSKYLABS projects will have full VR compatibility as a standard. Upcoming new projects are already having VR compatibility as a design standard.
Pretty good looking freeware KTPA - Tampa International by Vertical809 (676 MB):

X-Plane 11.20 VR2 has just released. I downloaded it, updated, and I get an instant CTD. Another user is reporting his Warthog/MFG pedals are causing the crash. I unplugged my controllers, and X-Plane launches fine. I’ll next try deleting my PREFS folder and see if perhaps that will solve the problem…
EDIT - Eliminated the Slaw Pedals as the culprit…plugged them in and X-Plane is running fine…
EDIT - Warthog STICK has no problem. Testing Warthog throttle next.
EDIT - Confirmed…as soon as I plug in my Warthog THROTTLE…I get a CTD…
MOUSE SUPPORT!
And acknowledged by the developer:
“There is currently a known issue with the Thrustmaster HOTAS causing the sim to crash. We’re looking into this and once it’s fixed, we will release VR3 which will address this issue and possibly others should they arise in the next 48 hours or so. For now, if you want to use VR2, you’ll need to do so without your HOTAS.”
Yaay I might have to loose the throttle but at least I can experience the hype myself
Bah, it hasn’t hit UK steam yet
How does the standalone game update ?
Ok just read the Dev blog and they are holding off the Steam release until VR3 so hopefully not too long
Looks like VR3 beta release is coming RELEASED…here is the short release notes:
VR3 beta
VR3 was an emergency patch for crash issues.
XPD-8945 Enabling VR Mouse in non-VR mode loses mouse clicks.
XPD-8947 Fix for scenery shadows always being.
XPD-8949 Fix for plugins crashing at start.
XPD-8950 Fix for CH Pro Pedals being broken on Windows due to inferring a centered axis type where there was none.
My TM Warhtog throttle crashing the sim seems to be resolved. Yay!
Looking forward to trying the VR3 build. Laminar Blog post here:
I’m also going to give a tweaked ‘level of details’ VR set of prefs a go, as I think that will help X-Plane performance a bit. More details of that here:
Plus try with ASW set to off in Oculus.
Still waiting for dear old steam to push it out, I even swapped my preferred download server to Atlanta USA. Still nothing…
Looks like they are uploading it now. You can (sort of) get a peek in the Steamdb entries of what’s going on.
This is one of the most challenging airports in my local area. A payware version by Nimbus is getting a bit long in the tooth…but this freeware version is superb looking:
And there are winter texture versions available…!
Really liking the mouse implementation in vr3, once I figured out to right-click to get a menu. And the freeware Bell 429 is spectacular in VR with sound playing through the Oculus headphones. Wow! I flew out of Bella Coola SE following the creek. Just wonderful.
