Oh the optimism and excitement of when you first realize that is such a nice blast from the past for me.
I remember the anger, frustration, and misanthropy that resulted afterwards all too well.

I think it all depends on the reason - I just do it for my 8 years old self. ^-^
He’s happy. I’m happy.
If I had to do it for earning a living- I’d probably wouldn’t.
That is a pretty important distinction. I tried that, it drove me nearly to insanity and so I just went to flight school.
I certainly did not know anyone was still selling software for the C-64.
Congrats!
Thank you!
Not only there’s many of us but people are moving mountains to create the hardware again!
Given that there’s still folks making games for the Dreamcast, it shouldn’t be at all surprising that folks are still programming for a more accessible ecosystem.
Noice! I hope you didnt have to pay collector’s prices for them though!
I have fond memories of all of those!
They costed me more or less 20EUR each.
The shipping was basically free.
I bought US Navy Fighters from Phar-Mor (Old Drug Store similar to RiteAid/Walgreens), Odd I know, then found Marine Fighters Expansion in Babbages sale section, which fixed the game’s major bugs that patches didn’t.
I remember paying $49.99 for Fighters Anthology from Electronics Boutique,
Who at the time, had a 10 foot section of display wall, of just Jane’s Combat Sims.
I know what you mean- I worked for a few years at EB Games (store manager-early 2000s) and I witnessed first hand the “Great Shrunk” of the PC section…
I actually bought Gaming PC parts at Electronics Boutique, I think it was my 2nd system in the AMD Athlon Era,
3DFX Voodoo3 (PCI Version I think) and SoundBlaster Live Platinum 5.1 (the $300 w/ the 5.25 Bay box and remote).
Guy looked at me funny as a 16 yr old spending $600 on components. But the beauty of having a job when I was 15 was I had my own income to pay for my obsession.
I’m pretty sure I bought my Top Gun Platinum Joystick from either Electronics Boutique or Babbages.
The best part was they were across the hall from each other at my local Mall.
My Copy of Top Gun Fire At Will was from Egghead software IIRC.
EAW holds a special memory for me, had such good times with it and my old online squadron JG54 Greenhearts!
Can you believe? Less than 9 EUR each and free shipping!
I HAD to
I concur.
W00p w0000p!
Look at all these goodies!
Unlimited respect for @schurem for gifting me so much great stuff…
