Great work, thank you @Chuck_Owl !
An easy to digest but very thorough guide, as always.
This is just the motivation I needed to redo my keybinds after they were wiped with the recent update.

I always enjoy reading your guides, though in this case I’ve spent far more time in the Mirage F1 than other jets… I’m looking forward to finding out all the things I didn’t know despite considering myself “competent” in the bird :joy:

My sincere thanks for all your work on these guides, and your willingness to share them with us. To me, they are one of the high points of the DCS experience.

So please send Chuck a $ or pounds or whatever you use.

DCS gives a buggy modules and we must pay prior to receipt whilst Chuck gives you KNOWLEDGE immediately without asking for anythingstrong text. CHUCK gives you more, he had to translate the Mirage manual.

SO PLEASE CONTRIBUTE FOR THE BENEFIT OF US ALL.

I support Chuck via Patreon as well, his guides are invaluable for whenever I start-up DCS for some virtual flying. Without them I can clearly see me getting frustrated googling and looking at the official manuals for whatever function I’m interested in.

Not sure the Eagle Dynamics folk understand how important his guides are, and I bet I’m not the only one thinking so.

On the Mirage F1, while I did spend 0 time with the module, it was nice to see the previews of the guide trickling through the Patreon email system.

Cheers,
TeTeT

The Mirage F1 is available in the free trial program now!

TL:DW;

  • basic interceptor variant CE
  • multirole variant EE which adds INS, AAR and optional improved RWR
  • 2-seat BE, basically a 2-seat version of the CE
  • much improved flight model in the most recent update

How hard is it to do air to air refuelling in? On a scale from A-4 to Tomcat?

A-4. It doesn’t require much trim, isn’t “floaty” at all thanks to the high wing load and the main difficulty is the slow throttle response, like the A-4.

I haven’t tried them back to back but IIRC, the A-4 was slightly harder to refuel because the engine is a bit slower to respond than the F1’s ATAR. It really is one of the best turbojet engines ever made.

And I’m not afraid to show it!

Over the past months there’s been some changes that make me really excited to try stand-off bombing in the Mirage F1.

Like this, or better: with LGB’s!

What changes have there been?

  • In May, the new bomb fuse options were added in the re-arm menu. This makes it possible to set GBU laser codes on the ground when spawning into a mission.
  • The new big (2300L) centerline tank has been added, the one they developed for the EQ and which was later used a lot by the CR and CT versions.
  • In the next update, we will get the bi-bomb racks, which will allow us to carry 2 bombs per station on the centerline and inboard wing stations.

Together, this means we can (very soon) do this:

Long range, low altitude strikes with 4 LGBs.

Guided only by INS and visual references. No bombing computer, let some other poor soul deal with a targeting laser. Or do multiple AFACs lasing multiple targets, with a single salvo of LGBs, each with a different code.

Man I wish they would add those double racks like that to the F1

Most highly anticipated item for next update, I’m telling you!
Not the Chinook, not Afghanistan, but dual bomb racks for Mirage F1!
