Aerges' DCS: Mirage F1

Joyeux quatorze juilliet!

Aerges congratulated France on its national holiday in posting the 14th screenshot, and also released a first version of its manual today by popular request so we can all dive in and start studying.

Does anybody know whether Aerges has the rights for using the name ā€œMirageā€?

Razbam called their module M-2000, right?

They use the term ā€˜Mirage F1ā€™ on their website and DCS calls it Mirage F1 so I assume noone is upset by it.

Could have something to do with the age and operational status. Or could be some complex legal / trademark/ copyright thing.

Just fantastic. As someone who was alive and an adult in the 80s, this is the sort of thing I enjoy the most in DCS. Yes, the f16/fa18/a10/apache and even the M2000 are kinda fun, but I remember how frustrating user interfaces were when they were first virtual, and I donā€™t enjoy having to go back to non-existent UX design, as with these planes. Iā€™m sure newer planes use much better UX/UI now that we know so much more, but of course, these planes are classified. Anywayā€¦ I really enjoy the the warbirds and cold war jets because they donā€™t have computer interfaces. I love the MIG21bis, probably my fave at the moment, and the Huey. Having a western equivalent is exciting. Collecting my penniesā€¦

As someone who was not even a sperm seed in the 80s, I agree 100%.

Welcome to Mudspike, @BashiBazouk :mudspike:
I totally agree! For instance, Iā€™d rather have the F-16A than the C weā€™ve gotā€¦

Agreed, actually. The 80ā€™s seems the perfect target for DCS action.

I wish we had an AH-1 rather than the Apache. Simpler to learn!

@WarPig Bothā€¦ we want both

I agree also. Itā€™s quite nice to be able to pick up a bird after a long break and be back at it after a 30-min refresher, which is a bonus. The more complex aircraft are harder to stay current in.

I do hope that the infantry AI behaviour and the gunner accuracy etc. get a look at some point. The less advanced your weapons, the closer you are to the enemy, which highlights the AI shortfalls more.

Cold War style low level penetration would be great, but the fun is a bit limited when the gunners instinctively know where you are and use super human targeting techniques for their iron sight AAA guns.

Same thing with helo stuffā€¦you can fly a tight circle around a 100 soldiers forever and be completely safe because they are programmed to run a few meters to reposition if you get behind themā€¦so they just keep sprinting in the middle of the circle, instead of trying to find cover or at least turning on the spot to empty their magazines at you.

Minor gripes, of course - I just feel like these things should increase in priority as we get more and more awesome modules for that era.

Im trying to supress these feelings. My Negative Nancy inside says delayed. Unless ED is going to do something Completely different to what they have done beforeā€¦ My money says this is delayed. It 48 hrs prior and there is no pre purchase, no announcement, not even a word from Wagsā€¦
YEAH, I WANT MY F1

:face_with_monocle: But itā€™s a 3rd Party Product.Wags and DCS arenā€™t responsible for promoting it or creating ā€œThe Hypeā€ā€¦If DCS says it will be released on the 20thā€¦then The Module must have meet their criteria for a release.

Didnā€™t they do the same thing with the C101? I think this is how Aviodev/ Aerges rolls. You donā€™t get it till its ready. I kinda like their style, I seriously have my eye on this project just due to watching their team polish the C101 to a mirror shine over the last few years.

The module, from what Iā€™ve been able to see is definitely a work of art. First day purchase for me. Flight model seems to be rather well done.
