While I do agree that a better manual would be nice (and I’m sure it’s forthcoming), the training missions do a very good job and aren’t that long. The longest is about 30 minutes, and you are usually doing something 90% of the time.
Weight is easy, use the ground crew menu to get the fuel and total, you can derive the rest from there. V speeds are given in the MC Index ->V speeds page. You can also check what the computer has for weight and balance there.
The one thing I’m finding to be a continual issue in VR is the checklist blocking my ability to click on anything that’s left of aircraft centerline while it’s still open. And the “set altitude” lady won’t shut up when I’m on descents or on final.
Other than that I’m getting better at navigating and landing. Though I had one instance where I popped all my tires and don’t know why.
How much of a philistine am I that I did a take off, circuit and landing and will probably leave it to gather dust for a bit? I’m not learning 1500 pages of esoteric avionics just to haul rubber dogshit.
For people like me, they really need to get win-home to work right.
+1 While I love cold starts, I’m not a fan of performing the procedures (too many airframes to remember them all). I did learn the A-10, but I have forgotten almost everything because I haven’t flown in so long. Yeah, I know, checklists.
That’s the amazing thing with the C-130. The checklist is interactive and you can set it so that it highlights all the buttons like we have in the tutorial
I had exactly the same issue, also I found out what was causing me not to be able to click on the oil cooler switches, Its those bloody hanging cables, if your head is at certain angles they have a large hitbox
So far for a first release from a new 3d party, it is very impressive, the attention to detail is amazing, and the possibilities they have added like the checklist, internet radio and walkaround, let alone the whole cargo system is fantastic.
the only gripes I have so far is the clicking on switches is a little hit and miss when the checklist is open, the bloody cables getting in the way, and the binding of the throttles for reversing
but apart from those minor things it is very impressive (and ****ing complicated)
