Careful now. I took out something like nine BMP-3s because according to @Fridge “This many autocannons firing at us simultaneously isn’t fun, it’s sadistic”. (Least that’s what I think he said, there was a lot of screaming and weeping… and buildings exploding). Don’t make me put them back in.

RHS is sadly one of the last “Gabe Newel is going to steal muh babies” hold outs. If I recall there’s a clause in the steam agreement that any content uploaded to the workshop is technically owned by steam for legal purposes, and they refuse to allow that.

I survived the install process! (assuming everything works)

@near_blind if I switch off of the apex peek build and back on to non-beta, will it uninstall that big ol new Tanoa map? I think that would be ok, but was wondering how it works.

Um… what if we don’t have a “!Workshop” folder…?

haha, I just went through that. Try here:

\SteamApps\workshop\content\107410

Bunch of numbered folders in there. Just find the ace and tfar ones to follow the instructions.

Pretty much. I swear if I’ve switched back fast enough I’ve had it install/uninstall without downloading, which might imply a temporary cache of sorts somewhere, but that might have been my imagination.

Cool, I’ll give it a go now then.

I had downloaded RHS last year (I think)…how do I update that?

Yeah me too. Or rather I do, but it doesn’t have the mudspike list I just subscribed and downloaded. Maybe it has to run once first?

There’s a few - are the numbers the same, and why is it different from @near_blind’'s?

I found all the files, but like @fearlessfrog, I’m a little bit curious as well as to what the difference is.

I’ve loaded all the mods, and run ArmA at least twice. Hasn’t changed anything in the file structures.

Looking at the folder screenshot, they look like soft links, so maybe to the same place.

If it helps anyone else, my ace magic number was:

463939057

e.g.

E:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\107410\463939057\optionals

For Teamspeak TFARS it was this:

620019431

E:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\107410\620019431\teamspeak

I’m not sure why it does that. Near blind wasn’t either.

I was also having trouble joining the server too, and we’re not sure what’s going on there either.

@Fearlessfrog: So I can tell you a bit of the why of the why, but not the why precisely.

Up until a recent patch, the arma workshop downloaded duplicate copies of any mod. One went to the

location (this is the steam ID attributed to each workshop mod), and a copy of it was downloaded directly to either the root folder of arma (default), or wherever you had set your workshop folder. Obviously on systems where space is at a premium (SSDs), this is no bueno.

To fix it, the current BI solution is to create a folder called !workshop, and fill it with softlinks to the aforementioned repository.

Now for me, this is a hidden folder, which I did not appreciate until I went about updating the server this afternoon. For the record I couldn’t find it, enabled viewing all hidden folders, and voila it appeared just like normal. For some odd reason @Rhinosaurus could not make it appear, and I have no idea why. The method posted is a work around, and I will bug Einstein to include it in the guide.

By sending me a copy of either DCS 2.5 or the F-5E :stuck_out_tongue:

Check your @RHSXXX (where XXX is AFRF or USF, really both). If you see a wget.exe and batch file in each, click the batch file and it should run a command line updater. You can leave it to do it’s thing. You will however need to download the GREF from their site.

If you don’t have a wget.exe and batch file, go to pages in the guide, and download the wget updater. It should be a compressed archive. Unzip that archive into aforementioned @RHS folder. Run them. Gib Tiger.

Holy crap, I was hoping this would be my night off.

So I think I have everything working fine just by following the guide and finding those extra bits as I posted above. My ARMA main menu now has more stickers than a NASCAR and I just took a US MH-60 for a spin above Altis. The new lighting looks amazing.

The only things that movie got wrong about absolutely everything NASCAR was the glaring lack of Bojangles, Cheerwine, and Sundrop. Everything else was spot-on.

I would probably join you guys for a bit during that event, but…
SO many mods to install, ans SO slow Internet connection… :frowning:

Got it…thanks! @Derbysieger - this might be what you have to do to. (But not sure if that will screw up the RHS install that your squad plays with - so buyer beware!)… Files are here: Red Hammer Studios

Hello,
@near_blind: Just a suggestion/observation. If we playing realistically according to the time period of early 90ties shouldn t we suppose to use proper M16A2, M16A2/M203 and M249E2 PIP without SEP and TFI upgrades instead of default weapons?

Speaking english, shouldn t we use weapons from this packs:

instead of default CUP?

I mean ,we re using correct M60s already so why not to go all the way?

Or I don t know something and I am making idiot of myself, then I am sorry.

Regards.
