ARMA 4 is coming in 2027

That is still quite some time away but good things take time to cook. I heard some rumors that the setting will be late in the cold war, much like reforger.

If it’s the Cold war, I’mma be HYPED.

Wow, only 14 years then between the release of ArmA 3 and ArmA 4!! Those guys at Bohemia are fast!

I’ll be buying it of course.

And it only took them a quarter of a century to finally send the RealVirtuality engine to live on a nice farm upstate.

Think we’ll see more fictional obscure islands, or an actual terrain like the Fulda Gap?

I’ll buy/play either way, just curious what to expect. I wish they’d actually do an Arma: Falklands campaign (although, I guess the story in the original OFP is honestly close enough).

Fast or not, they do good work. Love those Czechs and the iconic games they produce. Have never felt like I missed getting far more than my $'s worth in value for any of their titles.

Indeed. Between Bohemia Interactive and Illusion Softworks, I’ve had plenty of gaming goodness.

You love the breakdown and the results of the split between Codies and BIS.

“Hah! We’re keeping the Operation Flashpoint brand!”

“Ok, we’re keeping Operation Flashpoint.”

I’m tentatively looking forward to it

That could be another few hundred hours accounted for :grinning:, but with arma 3 there are not many games that you can say you have been playing for over 10 years, and they are still loooking and playing well

Even single player. Arma 3 is the one I keep going back to if I want some shooty FPS action.

Pretty sure its going to be another fictional land. I remember a dev got apprehended for doing some scouting work on Lemnos.

If I can be honest, I am longing for a place like takistan from arma 2 again.

I love altis. I would love another massive island. So much to do on that place.

The mod community gets most of the thanks for the longevity of the game. I’m pretty sure ArmA 3 would have died out a long time ago if it wasn’t moddable.

Which reminds me… Antistasi!
If only I had a good internet connection… :sob:

IIRC, SGD said they intend to bring SOGPF to the new engine eventually.

If that pans out? Well, there goes another 3,000 hours of my life.

If games were circles on a Mudspike Ven Diagram, I bet ARMA would legitimately compete and combine with DCS to capture the most players. I rarely return to it because of VR. Still, I can think of no franchise that I respect more than ARMA. It’s more a semi open-sourced sim platform than a game. That, I think, is why it has endured for so long while never getting stale.

It certainly never gets stale

I reread what I wrote above and, although it is what I honestly feel, it stands in near mirror image opposition to my feelings stated in the DCS 2.9 thread about stale terrain offerings. With ARMA, I applaud the “platform” nature of the software. With DCS, I decry it. I guess maybe the answer gas something to do with how add-ons for ARMA tend to be complete entertainment packages, like Prairie Fire, and not just added topography. Or, I’m just FOS. I’ll accept either.

Also coming in 2027, Squadron 42! And like Arma it’s been in “development” since 2013.

Haven’t got time to play at the moment but I’m itching for a ride around altis now.

Only a few games have that effect on me. Oblivion, Arma 3 and Day Z
