I had a lot of fun playing Reforger with @saghen and @tempusmurphy even though I have become completely inept at playing shooters
If we make this a more regular thing I thought it deserves its own thread to set up a gaming session so it doesn’t clutter the Screenshot and Video thread.
EDIT:
Server information for our Arma Adventures:
Server Name: Mudspike - Reforger Ops
Server PW: mudspikeFTW
For the time being I can host the server on my machine as long as I don’t fly DCS, even if I can’t join. Simply message me here, on discord or on steam a few hours before and I will set it up with the desired scenario if I am home and not planning to fly DCS.
So from someone who has been outside of the Reforger loop…is this going to be the successor to Arma 3? Are there user created scenarios for it? Is it roughly comparable to Arma 3? Feel free to point me at a review that will explain it all… I’d interested!
It’s the bridge to ARMA 4, which is the true successor to ARMA 3.
The developers are completely remaking the engine and functionality of the game (it needed it). Lighting, AI, mechanics, etc.
Basically Reforger is basically a tech demo of what ARMA 4 will become. It has become much more fleshed out in the two years since release, but should not be considered a full game, at least not yet.
The primary purpose is to play online PvPvE servers in a game mode called Conflict. That’s where the vast majority of people play. Awhile back, they did some updates and added a 5 person coop mode called Combat Ops, which is what we were playing a few days ago.
The AI is currently very basic and that’s why the PvPvE mode is the main mode. The AI logic is still in development.
Also, there is no mission editor to make proper A3-like scenarios. There is Game Master, which is similar to Zeus from A3. You can fiddle in GameMaster to play defenses and add AI and then jump into the mission and attack the objective.
Also, Reforger is cross play. it’s also available on XBox and PS. All the mods (islands and weapons/units) are in a workshop inside the game, not on the Steam workshop. So, all the mods are available for console as well.
the experimental is like the old dcs beta … you get the new goodies first … but there may be more bugs than the standard version, if you have the space it does’nt hurt
Managed a quick run through the training. 1080p ultra setting and its smooth so far. Handles great. Spent a good 5 mins looking at the humvees. They are spectacular models. Love.the ambulance.
