I have AC Evo, so there a nice additional discount for purchasing. I’ll probably get it. I seem to like to purchase early access titles and maybe play them later.
I was able to log about 3 hours, the first hour, sorting out my Fanatec gear. Entirely too much effort for updating firmware and drivers. Not the sim’s fault.
Once I got going in ACR though, I feel like I’ve had my $23 worth already. It’s really going to be a great sim. Challenging enough to keep it interesting, but not out of touch. Looks and runs superbly. Will post screens and a video later, but very impressed so far. What a honeymoon this will be.
This worked for me using Virtual Desktop and OpenXR with the Quest 3. The only issue that I had was having to peek under my goggles in the game menus since the cursor was initially offset, but it seemed to sync up better as the session went on.
I haven’t played RBR, in a few years, because my latest PC build does not have a CD drive. I think it is awesome that it is the de facto standard to which rally racers are compared.
Neither have I. I ‘know’ it is great and if I could track down a copy might give it a go… But?
I bought an external USB CD drive just so I could load up some of my ‘older’ games from CD and been disappointed, purely and simply because they just look so dated. Especially old driving sims even if there is a patch to run them in ‘widescreen’.
And that is immersion breaking for me because I am now too used to what modern sims offer with graphics.
I can relate to the feeling of disappointment playing older sims and games. I respect people like @damson for showcasing retro sims because I enjoy watching them. However, attempting to play them is another story. I really struggle with going back in time.
Nobody uses the CD version anymore the RSF’s heavily modded versions with online integration is the goto version that people use these days. There’s some impressive work being done on that old engine!
