Battlefield 2042

I’m really enjoying it. Runs at 60fps with ultra settings and don’t have any rubber banding and other issues people are complaining about.

This.

When a game consistently has me laughing out loud at the ways I get pwnd when I do something stupid, I know I have a fun game on my hands.

Any you guys getting graphics driver crashes? The game runs great until it doesn’t.

A friend of mine does. He runs a 3080 on the latest drivers. I run a 3080ti on the same drivers but don’t have any issues.
I’ll report when he’s found a fix.

I’ve had one or two crashes since updating to Nvidia 496.76. Otherwise, running stable and smooth.

Thanks guys. I turned off all my overlays (Geforce Experience, Steam and Origin) and no crash yet so I think that might be the culprit … particularly Geforce Experience (I used that for framrate display). Testing continues …

EDIT: No sooner than I said that, I got it again …

Annoying issue.
Have you tried removing the drivers with a tool like driversweep and then reinstall with the ‘clean install’ tickmark set?

Oh ya, I’ve jumped through a few hoops already. It seems the system is sending too many commands to the GPU or something? I’ve turned off vsync and I’m testing these settings now …

Seems good so far. If I encounter ZERO crashes after tonight is over, I’ll let you know.

Ok so crash galore up to tonight when I did a clean install of Nvidia driver 496.98. So far so good.

IMO, Battlefield 2042 is the dumbest Sniperfield, um, I mean Battlefield with the worst most unlikeable characters ever!

This old guy is still really liking it though! I must be going senile.

EDIT … three days later … 2042 is a joke. So many DirectX driver crashes. I’m going into BF2042 hibernation mode. Someone wake me up when they’ve fixed this very common and publicized problem.

Wow, that is unfortunate. I just had an Nvidia CTD a couple of hours ago and that was my first since launch on the 19th when I had a couple of CTDs.

I’m still on 496.76 with a 2080 Ti. 64GB RAM. Graphics on AUTO/HIGH. 3440x1440 res. All of my other games run fine- DCS, Hell Let Loose, Post Scriptum, X-Plane, MSFS to name a few.

What’s also unfortunate is BF2042 lost about 70% of it’s active players within two weeks!

So WHQL 497.09 just dropped (Dec 1) … no mention of fixes for BF2042, just all major new releases. I’ll let you know if I crash out …

EDIT: An hour later … she’s lookin’ good so far! Tried three different maps running Breakthrough … intense action at 4K Ultra settings … we’ll see how she goes … it really is a technical marvel!

EDIT: An hour and a half later …

I can ALMOST live with that tho ha ha!

@elby There is a 7+GB update today. Long list of improvements. Perhaps your Nvidia issue(s) has been fixed.

Most players can’t move left or right with the mouse. Here’s a video for the fix. Basically delete your BF2042 folder in your Documents folder and generate a new one. You’ll need to reset everything in menu if you do.

Thanks … when I get home today I’m just going to do a clean sweep and reinstall. I’ll report back tonight … see how long I can go without crashing.

EDIT: Clean installed including physically removing documents and steam folders. Also installed latest AMD chipset drivers. Reconfigured my keybinds etc. First minute of gameplay …

This is driving me to play the latest Insurgency!

ouch, man. sorry for your problems. I assume you cleaned out the gfx drivers and reinstalled those too?

You want me to do that too? Which version you want me to install?

Do you have BF2042 sag?

The funny thing is this time, the game WAS running glassy smooth without DLSS and still crashed.

I turned on DLSS to quality and it crashed right after too! I have a feeling it has to do with AMD chipsets and/or video cards.

Meh, it’s friday night, I think I’ll go punch a cone LOL!
