Sounds ominous. I hope this is a good move for the overall Falcon community.
LOLā¦be funny if Eagle Dynamics bought itā¦
Can you imagine the internet rage?
What is this internet rage concept of which you speak? I used the superior Bing search engine for this term and wasnāt able to find anything on it.
something like many many likes on FB?
TIR following, yes.
Nothing new this thread for two years (I got the ābumpā warning).
My question is from pure ignorance and I am specifically not bringing this up to step on toes or open old woundsā¦as I accidentally did once before. I am just curiousā¦and while curiosity may have killed the cat, hopefully it will not ban me.
I am a proud owner of Falcon 4.0 (have lugged that big binder through may PCS moves) and got an anon of the Balkans Campaign (which is kind of cool since I ran the HQ EUCOM Intelligence Watch during ALLLIED FORCEā¦so I can āreliveā actual missions.)
I was catching up on the News section and saw @fearlessfrogās article and pro video. It looked greatā¦maybe not as well rendered as DCS World, however, I recall from Falcon 4.0 that the systems were very detailed and accurateā¦and this has more aircraft!
But then I see at the end of this thread that it appears to have run off the rails for some business/copyright issues.
Any updates?
Case got solved a year or two ago. Both parties reached an agreement wherein BMS displays the patent-trollās trademark and requires a install of the original falcon to be present before the BMS installer will proceed. Itās all pretty painless.
4.34 is rumored to be coming āsoonā.
Some of us have spurts of BMS activity and then life gets in the way. Long learning curve but itās a good time.
Yes, there was thatā¦with only the F-16 to master. But once masteredā¦oh what a ride!
One thing really liked, and liked better than DCS (heresy, I know), was how they handled wingmen. The ability to lead a four-plane on an airbase interdiction and assign them different targetsā¦two for the runway, one for the fuel farm, one for the control tower (or whatever), etc.
I remember having one of those unforgettable flightsim moment: A night airfield attack⦠after my bombing run, as I pulled up and left, I looked down to see my wingman finishing off the runway, behind him a string of SEs lighting up the night, and then he pulled to get back in formationā¦a flash of vapor coming off his wings as he pulled a couple of Gs.
Is it me or has DCSās wingman radio controls been reduced since LOMAC/FC days? Or are we supposed to generate our own through scripting?
Nah, This is one of those things Falcon does objectively better. You have more control over your wingmen, both in what they shoot and how they go about shooting it. A four ship is automatically broken up into two elements rather than an unwieldy gaggle of singletons. (The AI also seem to go about things less stupidly). You also have more utility out of outside agencies like AWACS, Tanker or the Tower. Really the only thing DCS does as good, perhaps slightly better is their auto-JTAC.
I think it all goes back to the notion that Falcon 4 is a flight sim taking part in a strategy game. A lot of care went into the world you inhabit as well as your fancy lawn dart.
Itās just about the same. A few things have been shuffled into different categories. Different DCS aircraft further move it around to suit their needs (the A-10 has more options for establishing an orbit or passing a SPI at the expensive in depth A/A commands, for instance). Thereās definitely room for improvement.
I will definitely have to try that. I havenāt done much with FACsāwhat Iāve done Iāve likedāand nothing with JTAC. So as soon as I finish typing thisā¦
What I would like to seeāand what I am pretty sure I can script/triggerāis Red GCI giving regular updates rather than my constantly asking for Bogey Dope (Iāve got that command mapped to my HOTAS in my Mig-21 set up)ā¦it might already be done so Iāll check the various forums first.
