This thread finally made me sign up with Mudspike.
I’m a big fan of EightBall’s work and enjoyed flying an early version of Forestry Operations very much, it made me find new parts of the Nevada map that I’d never even looked at before. Like many here I don’t see why civilian ops would subtract anything from DCS. I’ll take any expansion to DCS I can get. 
Not meaning to drive anyone away from this, but in case some of you haven’t found it yet, I found this campaign to be really cool: UH-1H Huey Campaign - Medevac. I’ve only flown some missions during testing, but I liked them a lot!
IRL Batumi is probably a place people love to go on vacation, but in current DCS 1.5 I think Novorossiysk is probably the best suited place for any beach and vacation oriented mission (yeah, I had to fire up DCS to get the spelling right ;)). The hotels, the beaches, the resorts, it’s like Miami or Malibu or Cannes. Couldn’t think of a better place on the Caucasus map.

Long ago, there was a push for the CDF to acquire retired A-10s for use in aerial fire fighting.
While it didnt come to much, in your civilian DCS mod/config, this could be useful.

Speaking of civilian ops in DCS. I’ve been flying on the “Search and Rescue” public server for a couple of months. Helicopter oriented. It spawns random missions to rescue people in varied locations including open fields and steep mountain inclines with dense forest areas (current map is Caucasus). In cases you can’t land, you will need to hover above your mission and adjust the rope length via the comms F10 menu. And if you crash doing so, you become a rescue mission as well!
You also need to keep the hospitals/farps stocked with medical supplies as people are brought in. Only specific locations provide the supplies and you need to make sling loading trips. Fun stuff.

Yeah, I saw the thread for that server on the ED forums. I wish I could play in MP but my internet is too crappy
