Looks great. Can’t wait to see how they look up close.

Those short bits, like here:

Look good on video. In VR hoping to get that sense of speed as you penetrate the fluffys up close.

Dear Fighter Pilots, Partners and Friends, :pilotfly:

In the lead-up to the release of DCS World 2.7, we have also been busy bug fixing with our internal and external beta-testers. Progress is good and we are confident that the 2.7 release will go smoothly.

Cloud presets are nearing completion and the interface for ease of selection is being finalised.

Development on DCS: AH-64D is progressing steadily. In parallel with completing the external model and cockpits, we are engaged in armament, navigation, fuel, defensive systems, communications and other subsystem tasks.

The AH-64D is a particularly complex aircraft, but the team is making rapid progress. We would like to kindly inform you that the AH-64D pre-order is planned for the beginning of May 2021.

Thank you for your passion and support.

Yours sincerely,

Eagle Dynamics Team

The Clouds

We will be rolling out the new Volumetric Clouds with a wide array of preset weather conditions that vary in number of layers, coverage, density, elevations, thickness, precipitation and more.

Following the initial release, the Mission Editor weather tool will be enhanced to allow you to create your own weather presets. We are also pleased to confirm that the new clouds are synchronised for network play.

Development Report

Here are some of the features that we are currently working on for Early Access. We look forward to giving you an exact date when pre-orders will begin. We expect it to be in the first week of May 2021.

Aircraft Systems

  • Powerplants and related systems
  • Fuel system
  • Hydraulic and pressurised air systems
  • Electrical system
  • Lighting
  • Flight Instruments
  • Auxiliary Power Unit (APU)
  • Autopilot modes
  • Multipurpose display
  • MPD pages (ENG, FUEL, etc.)
  • Keyboard Unit
  • Enhanced Up Front Display
  • Fire suppression system

The AH-64D is equipped with advanced sensors capable of target detection and engagement at long ranges. Here are some of the Early Access features;

Avionics

  • Navigation Subsystem
  • Embedded Global Positioning
  • Inertial Navigation system
  • Doppler radar velocity sensor
  • Air Data system
  • Radar Altimeter

The AH-64D is capable of adapting to several roles within the context of close air support tasking. In addition to the 30 mm M230 single-barrel chain-driven autocannon, it can carry external stores and weapons on its stub-wing pylons. Equipment we are planning to release includes;

Mission Equipment

Sighting Subsystem

  • Integrated Helmet and Display Sight System (IHADSS)
  • Modernized Pilot Night Vision Sensor (MPNVS)
  • Modernized Target Acquisition Designation Sight (MTADS)
  • Night Vision Goggles (NVG)

Armament Systems

  • Area Weapons System (M230E1 Automatic Gun)
  • Rocket Management Subsystem (2.75 Inch Aerial Rocket)
  • Hellfire Modular Missile System (Semi-Active Laser)
  • Weapons page

Defensive Systems

  • One chaff and two flare dispensers
  • Airborne Survivability Equipment (ASE) page
  • Common Missile Warning System (CMWS)
  • Radar Warning Receiver (RWR)

Dedicated designers are also working on photo-realistic cockpit details and labels. In parallel, work continues on the external model textures.

The flight model and flight control system are highly complex and demanding. We are confident that the fidelity will be very high at Early Access. Much more information on the development of this sophisticated attack helicopter will be coming soon.

Thank you again for all your passion and support,

Yours Sincerely,

From Ugra:
We continue to work on the map of Syria.
DCS: Syria Map Developers are working hard to ensure that users receive a completed Syria map as soon as possible.
In addition to increasing the number of airfields on the mainland and adding the island of Cyprus to the map, the Ugra Media team is making great efforts to improve the content already available to users.

Edit: Also this:
“An important area of work for the developers of the DCS: Syria map is the detailed study of the airfield infrastructure and the maximum detail of the airfield hangars with the mission start places”

Nice. Thanks for that.

And that is why I need, in VR anyway, a GPU with more VRAM. Someday I’ll find one.

I find that Syria works surprisingly well in VR with a stock 1080. Until last week I avoided it because of the reputation Syria had as a resource hog. In the past when I’ve had experiences like this, where the negativity I was hearing didn’t match my overall positive experience, it was due to improvements implemented after those initial negative reports.
