I would almost bet they had it ready for release when Wags told us they would release in January, just so they don’t have to take any risks.
Now they are just waiting for the hype to build up and naysayers saying nay and then they will release it on the 30th or so.

I dont think ED are working on 2.5. they are done with it. The wait is for the 3rd party mission builders to update their content so it isn’t horrily broken on 2.5 release. The training missions, campaigns etc.

I would think so too, since Wags made such a statement. Probably just minor issues that they can drop, to meet the deadline.

I had a few goes at the Harrier in 1.5. Since then, its only DCS 2 for me. Its just so beautiful.

I have to agree, I cannot fly that horrid cardboard land in 1.5 caucasus anymore, it offends my sensibilities 
I love 90 FPS in NTTR and 45 to 90 in Normandy and everything just looks beautiful. Even screenshots cannot do DCS in VR justice. Playing on the 229th server the other night was a real eye opener. Most of my flying for ages has been single player or MP 1.5 but 2.2 with the lighting and explosions are just superb

Cheers we had been on the ground for a bit dropping troops and some friendly MI-8s where to join when some explosions went off nearby. A truck mounted AAA got me in the end.

Has there been any indication as to what we’ll need to do when 2.5 does come out, in terms of installation?
Will one of the updaters do it all for you or is it a case of remove and clean install?
Really looking forward to only having one client installed, I have to say.

Probably look like this-
Uninstall 1.5 stable (not needed anymore)
Update 1.5 beta to 2.5 beta (do it before uninstalling 2.5 alpha so it gets assets)
Uninstall 2.5 alpha (not needed anymore)
Download and install 2.5 stable
This will leave you two installs- 2.5 stable and beta
