DCS 2.5 Update Thread (2020)

I hate to be a crapehanger but…

When I jumped into my Viggen cockpit, it looked like this:

Looks like for things that had glass or plastic cover, the cover now has a blue tinge. (a divergent blue from the Swedish flag, so that isn’t it.) Also the HUD and interior warning/notification lights are very dark. I noticed this both in VR and traditional monitor mode.

I have looked at my setting - they were as before.

Any ideas? Anybody else getting the same?

Will go check my drivers but…?

@Hangar200 known issue. They changed the lighting and the AJS-37 didn’t took to kindly to it. The F-14 as well as some others are suffering as well.

Ah…thank you. Well, I am sure that between the good people at ED and Heatblur they will find a happy solution. In the mean time, I can use the steady version which is quite awesome. :slightly_smiling_face:

Yeah… Sorry ‘bout that. :flushed:
Got a good price on Biltemas (IKEA for cars) blue tinted sun screen film. Thought it might look cool and help with reflections.

Yes, I can see myself carefully cutting two small circles to go over the Rift S lenses.

Is that Kroner or $?

Kronor, in Sweden. Kroner in Norway.

It seems beta added new axis mapping - my G940 no longer broken down into rudder / stick / throttle. Now it’s single axis. I like it.

But now i have to remap …everything!

At least they are near identical in value, unlike those dastardly Canadians who will gladly take USD for CAD prices  (not blaming them either)

That’ll be $42.99!

USD or CAD?

Either will do.

trying to update while I await the bundle, failed, something something server capacity. oh well, I’m in no hurry.

BigNewy posted on the discord that the bundle info was stated in error and that no bundle information is available at this time. (About one hour ago, ED discord general channel)

yeah I saw it as well. No bundle soon. Contemplating wether to hold off until the bundle drops or grab the thunderbolt now and wait for a sale on the map.

Both were 20% off for me on steam it would seem, compared to other WWII aircraft prices.

It makes sense, why tick off people who bought both just 1 day later by putting out a bundle even cheaper.

Just guessing here, but I imagine the bundle will appear some time after the 20% off discount disappears.

I bet the discord is very very dramatic right now.

Done some experimentation with AMRAAM. It’s a better missile, but I’ve also seen some odd misses. For example in one of my check rides, I go up against first two floggers, then two fencers. The floggers eat the missiles often enough, depending on luck, positioning and range. The fencers however often get missed by the missile. It makes an odd overcorrection just as it’s about to hit. Perhaps some guidance quirk.

I don’t see what the hubbub is about regarding the vipers’ HUD. It’s fine on my box.

I wrote a small and simple mish in the channel map. It’s framerate is still bad. I guess that map lacks the VR optimisation pass the other maps got some time ago. I flew a night hop on the gulf, and the sky was a mess that differed from one eye to the other, shameful display!

True! They’re $10 off on the website as well. I can see myself getting behind the thunderbolt purchase considering the hours I have in warbirds over the years, and especially so since we’re getting 3 different variants down the line. The Channel is the one that has my doubts because I still don’t feel I got all my money’s worth out of Normandy. Other than flying a few campaigns there and the time I spent there with you guys flying Thorn Falaise I didn’t get much out of it. I’m afraid the Channel will simply join ranks with Normandy. If the map stretched a few hundred km to the north-east (even with various, lower levels of quality) it would have been a no-brainer if it could support the battle of the bulge and perhaps even market garden or the battle for Aachen. I’ll see how early access develops for the map, and consider it some point down the line. With all that said, I hope for that those of you who bought it are enjoying it!

Yeah, that might be some time, though. Perhaps in the summer, fall or winter at the earliest.

I bought that pre-release, still have never flown it. Bought the Channel Map anyway, I can navigate that part of England far better visually than I can Normandy or France in General :eyes:

10 gigs is a stately size for an update. Must have changed a lot of art assets.

Word is that it was prepping the terrain to support the new A2G radar is what took so much data.

Wow, really???
That’s both cool and terrifying, thanks for the warning!
