DCS 2.5 Update Thread (2020)

Wow that looks like a lot of fixed stuff. Will be interesting to see what comes out of the user testing later today.

The update is around 2GB and ED has started using a new CDN, which for me with fibre internet is blazingly fast. The Dedicated Server was just under 2GB of data and it downloaded in a few seconds (peak internet speed for me is 750mbps out of all the tests I have run) - so it CAN make use of faster internet unlike the old system they ran.

Hopefully for the rest of you this means you will see better downloads speeds as well.

or if your aircraft carrier gets caught in a weird vortex and gets set back to 1941
just say’n. :slightly_smiling_face:

The dataset is very small this far, thin evidence fo’ sho’, but it seems to me, the demon fulcrum nosegear has been tamed. I made a fairly sloppy landing and got away with it. About to try again, but I have high hopes.

Just tested the laser mav’s on the av8, they seem to be all good again, looks like ED has fixed the laser problems, so there may be other fixes that are not in the notes.

Ok, four landings, one fireball. Not as demonic as it used to be, still one to be finessed. I declare the MiG-29 fit for flight.

the date filter for units is very usefull, apart from is seem to think the Panzer IV was part of allied forces in june 1944

Cant you disable NWS or is this a different issue? Because I cart wheel the F16 all the time by forgetting to turn it off.

No that’s a different issue.

What happens with the Fulcrum is that it bounces way too hard. It’s like it’s shock absorbers are leaf springs. They don’t absorb the shock, they store the energy and release right away.

You plop it down like you would a hornet and boing up it goes again. Very ugly. Issue is most definately not fixed entirely so far. Fifth and sixth landings I made today went very badly due to bouncybouncy cyka blyat physics.

If you’re doing a beer per landing that might explain it.

I hope you guys enjoy this update,

it should be done downloading before you finish reading the change log, lol.

 Never had that problem myself but saw the thread on DCS forum.

What speed are you touching down with? Approach at 310kmh, 290kmh flaring and around 260kmh kissing the tarmac
 and all good.

Yea can confirm that reading the log took longer than the update.

Warning/advisory about the new patch: if you used any of the PLAN ships (Type 052, 054, etc.) you’ll need to add them again inside of a mission as the type name changed from their number code to Type_code. One of my missions wouldn’t load due to aircraft starting on these ships and I had to manually modify the mission file to correct the class names.

That shouldn’t matter, I can land a viper out of parameters by 40km/h and it’ll be fine. Even a fished. But a fulcrum? Booooing!

It’s going to be a while before I can try it but does anyone know if the channel map has had any optimizations

I had a quick flight
seemed to me the same as before, i was still getting some micro stutters in VR,

My usual NTTR mission, “Simple Stuff” (Pop-up attack, AR, pattern work) worked fine. Maybe a tiny increase in performance in VR. Not enough to get excited about. Definitely not worse.

What a joy this is in VR
450 Kts, 200-ish AGL, 3.3 miles, turn (hard) 30-degrees right, pull (hard) to 30-degrees pitch
feeling the G rumble my butt
there’s 5000 AGL, roll in, track, pickle the MK-84’s, run like the wind. Duck into a nearby canyon.

Ahh. Thanks ED for [nearly] bringing it all home.

Oh yeah. I’ve been waiting for this for a long time.

My favorite thing to do in the Viper.
