DCS 2.5.x Screenshots (2020)

Only ED Modules with MFDs

I normally hit the ramp on the carrier and that really REALLY kills my mood. So having a borderline aircraft malfunction like this ending my night would probably be an improvement lol

I didn’t get it with the A-10C.

So…I’ve been fairly quiet on the Hornet EA status. I purchased in the Summer of 2018. The the talk was that they were going to get the AS2A running and then move to all the A2G stuff…of which A2G radar is a big deal. I was hoping for that autumn…then winter…then I just gave up and decided that ED knows best, telling myself, ā€œDon’t complain. It will just sound like you are whining.ā€

Flash forward to 2020…and now here we are, in the spring of our discontent, not made glorious summer because we still do not have a ground radar in the bug. Yes, ED developers are working hard. Yes developers should work sane hours, deserve Weekends Hollidays off and should be getting vacation time.

But seriously? A slot machine joke? How long did that take to develop?…and we know that bit of code will never impact the rest of the mods that it was slipped in? The F-16, FA-18; not A-10C? I purchased 1 of the 2. Was it tested? How long did that take? Or t wasn’t tested? That is worse.

I am not amused. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Holy sourpuss batman!

I found it hilarious, and I see the fact that ED can muster the gumption to code in a slot machine as a good sign of their having a vibrant, joyful corporate culture. But hey, glass half full etc.

I think that it is fine. Likely a side project of a developer or two working on their own personal time (ie: instead of spending time with their wives).

Having a fun coding project on the side is good stress relief. I come home from coding and building software all day and have spent the last few nights elbow deep in the mission editor and LUA code. I am sure that my employer would like me to be solving their issues but it’s my ā€˜not at work’ time

Hey, don’t get me wrong. After I realized what was happening, I did find it amusing. I think if I was flying regularly and it was just another simming session, I would have been more easily amused by it. But since it I don’t fly often and made an effort to commit and spent an hour trying to learn some things, I was initially pretty frustrated I couldn’t finish what I started.

The damn thing even works! I was flying Hornet and won 2 engine failures in a row! Since Hornet have only 2 engines you might imagine how it ended…

From what I saw you can win:
• gear extension
• brakes extension
• engine flame-out/failure
• flaps extension
• ejection (you can circumvent that easily by disarming your ejection seat)
• DCS symbol - ???
• ED symbol - ???

I understand the points above but the thing is I paid for an FA-18 sim, not a joke. Just say’n.

…and I’ll drop it from here. Need to get some Viggen time! :slightly_smiling_face:

Let’s say it should be better if there was a ā€œApril Fool’sā€ option in the game menu.

I doubt this joke used more resources than, for instance, a skin.
It’s a prank. And as such it probably boosts developer morale. They probably had fun making it.
Mostly harmless, but I see the frustration if encountering at the end of a long mission.

As a comfort it will probably last only one day. And you still got a small chance of lowering your gear while pulling the handle…

I had some fun with this feature while it lasts:

Sorry ED, I couldn’t resist.

That RIO’s name is fantastic.

Pecker is hilarious but in the UK he would of been called ā€œdick-dickā€

 I’ve got to say, for somebody for which English is a second language, you have a much better grasp of it than many Americans I know! That was hysterical! (and thank you. :slightly_smiling_face:)
