Spudknocker already released a video on the AAA barrage fire if anyone’s interested. Downtown Baghdad anyone? :sunglasses:

I need to adjust my previous statement about the new propellers.
They look really good in certain lighting conditions now. The prop disc reflection looks more realistic now.

And my inner Viking is very pleased with the Viggen updates! And according to Heatblur, the big parts are yet to come…

You see the contrast and brightness knobs for the periscope :sunglasses:
So I had a fun time doing different instant action missions last night but today it’s been huey driving for about 6 hours. This new world is so much more than we had before. I bet we would all have been happy with the clouds but now Syria is like flying in Arma 3 with the level of detail. I guess the G2 arrived at a good time

I assume you mean the EP13 scope…! The Sk37 actually had periscopes, so the instructor could have forward view
And what about the knobs?

Look on your left that’s the only clue I will give you

I used them, they work. What? Is this about the placard?

I can’t say, I just had to learn this stuff recently because DCS actually always ran quite well over here. But I would assume so.

Wow, what an update. This almost makes me want to hop on the beta train…but I shall stand strong and use the delay time in the garage to build the sim chair instead.

Long term satisfaction instead of instant gratification, Bearhedge…deep breaths, don’t give in…

What placard and what an odd word. I just saw the knobs in a video and didn’t know if you knew about them. There was such a lot to digest in the readme/patch notes. I fell asleep just copy and pasting it :grinning:

That’s the only two words of value in that sentence!

The small sign above the EP13 knobs. It’s black, without text. I thought perhaps that’s why you mentioned the EP13 controls, specifically

Placard? It’s often used for small signs in a cockpit.

I see. Yes, I knew about them  Sorry. I just didn’t understand why you brought them up.

And yes, it’s a looong list of fixes! Love it!

I finally got up and running with 2.7
W O W ! So far did a few flights with The Hornet and Viper just North of Vega$ in NTTR

I know in VR it has it’s faults but,   The immersion the clouds add is off the charts!!! The shadows and light reflectiobs on the ground,WOW …it changes everything!!! I fly in The NTTR pretty regular,Been flying it for years,.But today I got turned around in the clouds and became Disorientated …I had no idea where I was??? That has never happened before in previous versions of DCS OB…pretty cool.

I had it once. App hang when it finished loading, auto crash log dialogue came up. I was unable to alt-tab to the crash log, task manager, or any of my other apps. After mad alt-tabbing and clicking of the window previews I was somehow able to get another app to focus and kill DCS.

Same. The NTTR is looking better.

Overall it’s about what I expected: visually more ‘interesting’, and it is WOW looking, even in VR (I’ll never go back  ). Runs about the same but, as before, the clouds give me more of a FPS hit than I like. Finding the Light SCT preset(s) to be the sweet spot on my rig. Still doing joy rides.

Interestingly I tried the updated Shader Mod (ref’d here recently) and saw no perf. difference. Also, the Hornet is better on my FPS than the Viper. Might have been so before but I’d not noticed much diff. til now.

Soon the honeymoon with the this atmospheric phenomena feature-set will start to wear off and I’ll realize I still can’t have much of a war going on. And I can’t fix it by throwing money at the issue (at least til I can stomach the cost of a GPU - and one can be located).

They did a good job here. FWIW, the clouds, again in VR, look better to me than in FS2020, on a FPS basis.

I’m running a 55” 4K panel (I think I paid like $500 for it). Dirt cheap but the clarity of the visuals over VR is worth it … especially when you can interact with all your fancy peripherals. When there are already hundreds of posts on how to get VR to work well in DCS I just say no thanks … not worth the headache.

That’s always the recurring disappointment with DCS. Fortunately I’ve found that with enough tweaking of Liberation settings you can get some decent low-performance-impact COIN action going on.

I did some 2.7 time with the Spitfire - they did a really good job with VR and artifacts, the new prop disk effect seems to take it into account, which is great. Normandy seem much smoother now as well.

The detail in the clouds isn’t really there in VR, so I reckon they might not actually go ‘Ultra’ when VR is used, but I’ve no real complaints - the lighting on the landscape makes things much more alive, and it’s a good improvement at really no performance loss.

I’d feel the same. Except I never pay attention to any of them. I do today what I did at unboxing, put the headset on. No mods, tweaks, horded old Nvidia drivers or any of the rest. It just works. But I agree that the clarity is not great. I see some of the screenshots posted here and wonder if I am playing the same sim.
