I am going to jeed to learn to navigate the older machines. Getting your bearings from angels twenty by just looking outside isn’t much of an option in “broken 5”. Love it!
Just out of curiosity, what gamma settings do you guys use? Before the clouds I was using 2.3 which looks great for the Syria map and general desert flying but it’s making Cacasus look a bit washed out.
Had a short flight yesterday in one of the overcast settings including precipitation. The latter did indeed impact my frames, but I’m on a 970, so that’s fair. What is a bit weird is that there is indeed a lot of transparency/z-fighting issues. Sometimes you’re smack in the middle of a cloud and can’t see the ground, but the silouette of the clouds around you stands right out. Also in the overcast setting, while inside a cloud the sim would constantly generate small puffs around the plane that move past you. It did look quite cheesy TBH. I understand that modelling the effects of flying into and out of a cloud must be very complex, because no sim has come remotely close to how it looks IRL, but I hope they are going to continue to work on it in the coming months.
My main problem with the clouds is that sometimes when I slowly enter them everything becomes blue instead of white/grey. In all directions. Weird effect.
Otherwise I am fine with them so far. I flew a little training mission with the Hornet (and I suck with the TGP now it seems)
Blue, blue, my world is blue
Blue is my world since I’m without you…
erhm
sorry
That’s clearly the “overswept” position.

Is that a clip from the upcoming"Alway’s Delayed" Top Gun II Movie??? Is this The Stealth F-14E that’s been rumored as a Government “Black” Project???
Left is right and right is left.
I could say day and you’d say night.
Tell me it’s black when I know that it’s white.
Always the same it’s just a shame that’s all.
That’s just the heavy maintenance guys airing their cats for a while.
Feature, not a bug
Old maintenance people joking with the new guy: “Hey, make sure you fold the 'cats wings all the way!”
New guy: “All the way?”
Old guard: “Yep! All. The. Way. We’ll be back in 10”
…
New guy: “Done!”
Old guard “WTAF?!”
Did some combat in the Spitfire, just the quick missions. Seems to be much improved, in that the AI do seem more natural and flawed. I was taking chunks out of a 109 and it looked impressive - I could see a gap in the wing that my canon rounds connected with.
I’ll have to try one of the WWII campaigns I bought - I could never get the performance over Normandy and the AI was a bit alien , so might be time to replay.
I think it’s the case of dumber AI being more fun to WWII with?
Hmm…I see the Jug is on sale for $34.99 - wonder if I should pick it up in case we do a Mudspike WW2 event in the future…
Actually…I have 4800 miles I could use I suppose…or can you use them on a sale item?
I have the P’47 and it’s an absolute joy.
If you squint your eyes you might think you’re in a Skyraider.
Just saying…
If you look, you’ll see it’s not that the wings are too far back, but rather that the right and left wings swapped positions but not orientations. Flaps are now on the outside instead of the inside, etc.
It’s a bizarre problem and I’m not sure how that was managed other than someone swapping a +/- sign in the model or something?
ROFL, I’m just here for the jokes and puns.
They are Australian Tomcats…
