I see under P-47 & P-51D missions that indeed there are FWAF missions included…
That seems pretty nice! A limited scale multiplayer feature?
I’m not sure that I understand FWAF. Is that a way of converting SP missions to MP on the fly? Also, the phrase “upload to your own server” is a bit confusing. Where does the line cross between hosting a multiplayer mission and hosting (serving) a FWAF mission? I suppose that there will be YT videos explaining and that in practice it will be somewhat self explanitory.
Another thing is that most people, at least here in Germany, are on IPv6 and can’t even host missions. And if you want an IPv4 it costs extra…
Interesting. Separating the wheat from the chaff it sounds like. Are you IPv4 on the LAN side of your Internet router/modem/firewall?
Yes, but my internet adress is IPv6. Some people are still on legacy contracts with IPv4 adresses but if you want an IPv4 adress with a newer contract you have to request one which usually costs quite a lot of money compared to your normal 20-40€/month contract.
Can DCS still not handle IPv6? I thought they fixed that years ago.
Owning and operating an MSP for over 20 years, I have a contrasting POV. IMO, they all basically have the same functionality and at the end user level, similar interfaces. From a business perspective, decisions are made with regards to application support, cost, security, ease of deployment and management. The bean counters and managers don’t always agree with IT concerning those choices, but overall, I think the Microsoft has done a pretty good job giving businesses what they want and for the most part need. Sure, there have been missteps along the way. Windows ME and Vista come to mind.
Critics have predicted the end of Microsoft Windows and how different platforms would become the de facto desktop standard for decades. Yet here we are.
Nope still not working. I heard from a programmer who works for a major company here in Germany that they tried to implement IPv6 for their systems and quickly gave up on it because it was too expensive to do for the benefit they’d get.
A while back DCS was stuck on IPv6 for LAN, I had to get a force disable code for the server so I could see the LAN IPv4 in the server browser. I can’t test via IPv6 though because I don’t have the WAN side with 6.
And with supply chain attacks on the rise, while the all-eggs-in-one-basket approach can be a problem - it’s still much easier to deal with than having to hope nothing got snuck in to one of the hundreds of Linux packages that make up your operating system, applications and/or their dependencies.
Supporting a few dozen Windows 10 workstations hasn’t been bad at all.

Wonder if it holds, this is a big update.
I don’t think they would have announced it if they weren’t fairly confident… But saying that I hope I haven’t jinxed it
Well fellas, we know who to blame now.
