DCS 2.7 Discussion

This was exactly what I came to my mind when I did a tiki tour of that map, down low with the Hind.

Never saw combat… Doubt we’ll see one in DCS. But, it IS an awesome bird and I would love a simulated one.

Same. Sorry not sorry.

I’m still pulling for “Flap.”

But if we ever get that “country by the sea” map, we could recreate the '50’s there with the French.

True. And, let’s face it… It doesn’t have to be periodically correct, in DCS.

Phantom is very much needed, I agree. Other Aircraft I’d very much like to see are all WWII except for the Tornado. Storm of War is one of the best MP servers around IMO and it would profit so much from stuff like earlier Bf 109 variants like the G6 or a Fw 190F8. I’d also like to see improvements for the Channel map in terms of historical accuracy. It’s a mishmash of time periods in regards to airfields. I whish they’d moved the whole time frame to early 1940ies and build up assets and modules for that time period as well. I know IL2 exists but it’s just not my cup of tea.

I’d be very curious to know what the sales mix between jets, helos and warbirds is for ED.

Based on multiplayer server population alone, you’d assume that the jets win out tenfold, but then they’ve said the majority of players are SP only.

Considering Storm of War is the only WWII server that sees significant player numbers that sounds about right.

I will say though that the server has increased in popularity a lot this year so here’s hoping ED will allocate a few more resources to the WWII timeframe. I would absolutely love to see more work on WWII assets because the DCS WWII multiplayer experience is something special.

I’m so incredibly proud of this community for stating the need of a phantom so much, though I wouldn’t mind getting my hands on one of her younger cousins as well, such as the Banshee or the Panther.

But then the AI will stop working 5 minutes into the flight! :smiling_imp:

That’s cold.

True, but cold.

Edit-to be fair, some days I wish Jester would stop working 5 minutes into the flight. It may work out alright.

Do you think ED is leaning more on doing Pacific WWII Theatre assets since The Mariana’s release ? Realizing there’s a void and market for this Theatre?
F4F…F6F …Zero…Frank and The addition of Okinawa would be my…Wish List …I can Dream…Can’t I??

Well, they literally have all the tech they need already developed. Or almost.
What’s missing really?

Supercharged radial engine? Check
Multi engine planes? Check
Advanced damage model? Check
Carriers tech? Bosun-Check
Supremely awesome clouds? Double Check.

Now it’s just the waiting game. Undoubtedly the hardest part.

While the Phantom is needed, the question is which Phantom?

You need the E for USAF. You need the J for most USN stuff, but an earlier one wouldn’t be bad.
You could use an S for the later years to truly match the 21bis, and who wouldn’t enjoy hunting in a G?

I honestly do not understand how in 2021 we do not have a WW2 Pacific aviation theater. Our best version is to have the Fw-190 dress as a Japanese plane and chase it in the Mustang or Spit or T-bolt?
It broke my heart when BoX did not go in that direction. There are so many Japanese aircraft that are just epic. The Oscar, the Jack, the Frank and the Tony… Yes, we can dream. How cool would it be to try and intercept B-29s in a George?

Apparently 1C isn’t comfortable (yet) with the investment needed for carrier ops combined with the shakier state of Japanese fighter documentation. Jason wants to go there but still can’t yet.

Not that Il-2 46 was a landmark for WWII carrier ops, but at least it did have it. Prior to that it was CFS2 and then you have to go back to the 90s, but still it’s been over 15 years since PF was released.

Yep, I still remember one of his posts explaining just that - why they are not ready for Pacific.

While I understand the reasons I can’t get rid of a feeling that they, perhaps unnecessarily, disqualify themseves when it comes to lack of documentation regarding the Japanese fighters.

They could just say out loud that the representation of Jap aircraft is subject to data available and the rest is their best judgement and give it a go.

I am sure the community would snap it in a split second :grinning: (and then moan as always).

Anyway, I got enough on my plate for the moment to keep me busy (DCS, Il2, MSFS)… but give me an option to buy a Pacific theatre and I will happily add it to my collection even if not perfectly close to the real deal.
