Darn…

I still hope to see it one day, along with a “jungle by the sea” map.

Truthfully, having so enjoyed flying around the Pacific in the FG-1D in MSFS (despite the game’s many flaws), I’d probably pay a reasonable sum for a Hellcat or Corsair and terrain only-even without combat. I log 5 hours a month or so in the TF-51D over NTTR currently, and I’d much rather be over the islands chains.

I’ve pondered this myself, many times. B/C-model? Working from memory here but, the “B” was Navy, the “C” was AF (AF’s version of the B), right? At least for a start. And the B covers the Marines too!

I mean it’s gotta be a CV-based version for sure, at least. But then they’d need a carrier. Oh my…

Is it me, or does it seem the systems trying to shoot me down are implemented much more completely than the system(s) I need to have to keep them from shooting me down?

Yay! Have been near virtual fisticuffs with my wingman over this one a couple of times.

The inability of AI wingmen to properly Air-2-Air refuel is still not listed as fixed. They only refuel their internal tanks and leave the externals empty yet still hang on to the tanker’s umbilical.

This bug has been around for quite some time. More and more people posting and providing tracks regarding this bug over on a thread at the ED Forums.

Yes. Frustrating. Thing is, you can give them a “Rejoin” call and they unplug immediately. Last time I checked anyway. So you have some control, although limited, and not addressing the issue you raise.

And you never know what their actual fuel state is. I had to write a script for this, and have them give me a “Bingo” call so I’d know when to RTB them - seems more proper than just letting them die a shameful death :).

Writing good [game] AI code is hard. I hate to think they just push it back though because, well, it’s easy to ignore it when you have multi-player. I hope that’s not the case.

The PVE faction - I thinks it’s quite large - would of course benefit greatly from more “robust” AI too.

Yep, use the “rejoin” command myself to get them to unhitch from the tanker. Yet, they are only fueled up to the internal tanks and in the missions I’ve been working on, this makes them useless because I can’t bring them with me to the AO.

The only aircraft I’ve been able to monitor my wingman’s fuel state is in the Hornet. I can take a look at the SA page and highlight my wingman with the TDC to see how much fuel he is carrying. They sit on the tanker at 10.8 which means full internal but don’t go higher than that even though they’ve got 3 externals on which should give them the capacity like my aircraft to be around 16.9?

I don’t know what to think anymore @jross , like I had mentioned, this bug has been around a very long time and many people including myself have provided tracks, video, detailed explanations as to what is going on. Heck, ED doesn’t even need those. All they have to do is create a mission with AI wingmen, take them on a long journey where they drain their tanks and then send air refuel command to wingman. They should be seeing the same thing the rest of us are.

And it’s not like this is just a small annoying little bug. If you try to play any single player mission where you and your AI wingmen need to refuel in the air, you can’t. It’s a game killing bug. You spend most of your time trying to micro-manage the AI for something they should be able to do themselves with just one command from you…instead of flying your own aircraft.

It is frustrating as hell.

Myself and @chipwich are in the process of creating a Falkland’s-like set of missions. I’ll see if I can extract the above mentioned LUA and post it. I may even use it in this set of missions. At least you’ll know what their fuel state is. Which is something.

Lets try this again: the post formatted ‘weird’ the first time…

(or anyone that wants to look at it) below is an example of getting the fuel state from a specific Group. Copy/Paste the code below to a text file (use Notepad++). Then save it as:

JARDCS_FuelStateeCheckGroup.lua

In the DCS ME Create 2 Triggers

Near the start of the mision, I use:

  1. ONCE | TIME > 3 | DO SCRIPT FILE
    Then click ‘file’ to find and use the above file.

Add a Radio Item Menu (F10 menu, “Other”) so you can repeat this:
RADIO ITEM ADD FOR COALITION/SIDE/GROUP:
name = Fuel State Check GroupName
flag = xxx <<< a unique number here
value = 1

  1. Create another trigger with 2 Actions:
    a. SWITCHED CONDITION | FLAG IS TRUE (xxx) |
    Action = DO SCRIPT.
    In the text enter this:
    text = FuelStateCheck.ForGroup(“GroupName”)
    Replace “GroupName” with the name of the Group you want to get the fuel info for
    b. Action = FLAG OFF(xxx)
    This FLAG ON (via the menu) and FLAG OFF stuff simply toggles it so it can be repeated (SWITCHED CONDITION)

I’m not gonna lie, I was hoping that this update would improve performance on the Marianas map. Maybe it did a little but I’m still a slide show on Guam.

56GB update for me ooofies. Curious to see if the AI taxi issue on MP is actually fixed. It’s been a game-breaker for Liberation missions, but they only focused on fixing the dedicated server side. I’m hoping standard server was also fixed.

Dear Fighter Pilots, Partners and Friends,

We are currently preparing DCS: The Channel for final release. Along with a broad set of enhancements and optimisations, you will soon find the addition of the Amiens Prison that includes a comprehensive structural damage model. Multiple cosmetic fixes and improved scenery around unique objects are also included in the next update.

DCS: F-16C Viper is undergoing a bug-fixing phase as we prepare to add the next set of weapons, sensor improvements, and new avionics functions. We have added the AGM-154A JSOW, and you can find more details on it here DCS: F-16C Viper | JSOW.

We are also improving DCS: F/A-18C Hornet and look forward to sharing more details on the flight model improvements soon. To avoid confusion and help you better understand the radar and its limitations, we have prepared a tutorial on DCS: F/A-18C Hornet | AA Radar Use. We are completing work on all existing airfields and resolving aircraft collisions with static ground objects. AI taxiing logic is also being improved.

Multiple cosmetic bugs have been resolved, and new unique objects and support facilities have been added to provide a more realistic appearance. Improvements also cover the road/rail network, the Citadelle d’Arras, and more.

The area around the city of Amiens has been reworked to include much more detailed buildings, trees, and bushes.

Based on our roadmap, we are pleased to announce that the Wind Corrected Munitions Dispenser (WCMD), or “Wick-Mid”, will be coming to DCS: F-16C Viper later this summer.

The WCMD is cluster munition that will correct for wind effects and errors during a ballistic fall and turns a “dumb” cluster munition into an accurate “smart” weapon. With the addition of this weapon, you will be able to independently assign multiple WCMDs to targets in a single pass (using multiple steerpoints as targets). WCMD versions include the CBU-103 with 202 BLU-97B submunitions and the CBU-105 with 10 BLU-108 Sensor Fuzed Weapon (SFW) submunitions.

In this video, we’ll look at the AGM-154A Joint Standoff Off Weapon, or JSOW, for the Viper. The JSOW is an unpowered glide bomb that weighs approximately 1,000lbs. It has a range of up to 70 miles depending on launch altitude and airspeed. It is a fire-and-forget weapon that uses INS and GPS to reach its designated Sensor Point of Interest (SPI) target. JHMCS Alignment Procedure

When performing a cold start, the JHMCS will now require alignment. This must be completed to avoid alignment issues with the symbology. If you are performing an auto start, the alignment will be completed for you.

NASAMS

New Ground Unit

NASAMS (National Advanced Surface to Air Missile System)

NASAMS is a Norwegian-developed, medium-range SAM system that was introduced in the mid 1990s. Utilising the proven AIM-120 AMRAAM missile, and combined with a MPQ-64 Sentinel 3D radar, it presents a formidable threat to aircraft and helicopters at low- and medium-altitudes.

A typical battery consists of 3 launchers, each with 6 missiles, a radar unit, and an FDC fire control unit. NASAMS is in service with a number of countries, including the USA. It is notably used to protect high value targets such as the White House in Washington DC.

This ground unit is now available in the latest Open Beta update.
