DCS 2.7.X Screenshots (2021)

I’ll have to try some different settings to pin down what exactly removes the shimmer on some textures. The BC7-DX11+ setting I used resulted in a slightly larger file but I don’t mind that much if it results it a better looking texture. I also chose Generate mip maps with Super Sampling when saving so maybe that’s what does it.

Texac already answered your question about JHMCS.

I am liking the CH53, I hope it gets the same work the C130 did. Its a nice external model although the cockpit is meh and the rotor blades are epilepsy inducing

I used CTLD to do a hot LZ and tried to save and replay the track in 2d for some nice screens. Unfortunately DCS thinks I crashed my chopper shortly after T/O

Back to our homebrew Mercenary campaign. Escorting a herc to a resupply field that had ISIL combatants besieging it.

What is it?

I am at the beginning of the default Crime and Punishment campaign and I am really happy with the MiG-19.

Btw. love the Czechoslovak livery :+1: :czech_republic:

So, the year is 2014, ISIL is making colossal gains throughout the Middle East. The world looks on with a deep feeling of concern. Such unrest has a lot of impact the world over.

Enter the mercenary outfit Mongoose Consulting, LLC. It was initially founded in 2003 by ex-US Army SF and ex-British SAS members, basing out of Athens, Greece. Initially, they were hired by the United Nations to conduct recon and intel gathering operations in the region in total secret.

The rise of the Islamic State has seen Mongoose take on a much more proactive role in the region. Receiving a huge shot in the arm from the USA and from numerous European States (all under the table), Mongoose has hired about a battalion’s strength of forces to fight against the forces of ISIS.

From the get go, Mongoose had a small air arm of drone specialists and utility pilots. Recce, transport, and medevac were their bread and butter. However, ISIS proved to be an unusually strong adversary and Syria also seemed standoffish at best.

The first and only combat wing Mongoose had was established in 2013. It was a mixed composition squadron that first operated out of an abandoned oilfield. It lent them their nickname: “The Roughnecks.”

In short, we have a script that records kills and assigns a monetary value to certain targets and allows individuals to purchase aircraft as they like.

The current squadron is myself in a MiG-19 (Just saving up some money for more ordinance as I have a MiG-21 hangared and ready), an A-4E, an F-5E, and an F-86.

And yeah, the Czech Farmer is nice! I usually rock a Syrian skin, though.

If this was an easier time I’d love to be the crazy helicopter pilot, a la Murdock. ;D

I have done this more than once. I have inadvertently shot down or had shot down at least half a dozen AAMs with AAMs over the years, also usually when the target plane fires a missile at the last second.

Made the missile detonate in my face without damage, and also had mine detonate in their face without damage. Not sure how likely it is in real life for the incoming AAM prox fuse to sense the new missile and go off.

It’s a feature, not a bug!

(In real life, that is. Not just DCS)

Range day with the Scooter. Not doing so hot with the dive computer, and the lack of documentation isn’t helping much.

Defending SA-2

Pickles. Lots of pickles.

Unfortunate…

ED better hire the man who modeled these vapes.

Nice screenshots! I should get the new version of the Scooter too!

IIRC, a few of the A-4E guys, both coders and artists, were hired by Heatblur.

That’s a pretty solid move by them (as usual)

Beautiful pics as usual, outstanding actually. First one is my new wallpaper.

Well, I know this stuff isn’t new to any of you but today I finally got to fly with the new clouds and the new lighting. Wow! Such a difference. Just like many of you have already said, makes the sim a completely new beast and experience. Told my wife already she won’t be seeing me at all this weekend.

Also took a look at new lighting and clouds with the Mig-19P. Such a simple aircraft but yet so sexy IMHO!

I really cannot get enough of these clouds!

Satisfying to fly through/over/among eh? Yeah, it’s great  I just love the sense of scale they give, of depth and speed. Feels so real.

I’ve also noticed that those clouds and the new lighting seem to make things “pop out” more on the battlefield. Created a quick mission, had a nice heavy cloud layer with broken spots and was attacking some vehicles and buildings in a position along a river. Once I destroyed a few and taking a bit of time trying to initially locate them, the smoke plumes and fire of the destroyed vehicles really looked superb and helped with locating those additional targets in the area. I’ve read that other people have noticed it helps pick out aircraft as well highlighted in front of clouds though I haven’t tried that yet.
