Messing with the dogfight AI.

MiG-21 vs. Veteran MiG-15, gun kill on the MiG-15.
MiG-19 vs. Veteran MiG-15, actually ended not so good for me. He pulled lead once, fired off one burst, then disengaged. He managed to knock out my left engine, but I was still flying just fine. I decided to go full send, but he had already used his energy to establish an outbound and was outrunning me now that I was underpowered.
F/A-18C vs. Trained Su-33, gun kill.
MiG-15 vs. Veteran MiG-19, I managed to get him in a rolling scissors and one 37mm hit the canopy. He went in.
F-5E-3 vs. Trained MiG-19, I dragged him down into the weeds, got a missile tone, and had a good launch angle. It came off the rail, pursued, but the flareless MiG-19 jinked. However, in the effort to avoid the missile, he stalled the left wing and spun it in.
F-5E-3 vs. Trained MiG-19, part two, had another low level fight. He’d use his power to climb up some, I’d pursue a little and then dive when I couldn’t get a missile solution. At some point, we got too close for missiles and I took a quarter second snapshot that sawed off the wing.

Early morning, somewhere over the Persian Gulf. The lighting is really good.

And the cockpit no longer blinds you when in the sunshine.

Love hearing this kind of stuff. Hope it’s a sign - ways back I had one (think it was my wingman) do a belly landing, I don’t recall the details and can’t find the post. Was amazing.

@Derbysieger and @EightBall,On my phone at least, if it weren’t for the thread title most of those screenshots are good enough to look like real photos. Even the pilots which almost always give the fact away that it is a screenshot look life like too.

@EightBall images are on another level though. Mine are just VR screen caps at pretty low graphics settings

I’m hip. Some YT videos I’ve seen recently, esp. the ones where they crank up the quality/detail settings for the video, have been close to fooling me - the only giveaway was the lack of fluidity of the pilots head movement.

Looks great. Lighting, like in photography, is a big deal.

Is that the default SH-3? I’ve never seen it look so good, nor with crew in the door :+1:

That’s Mr. Eightball’s Seaking mod. Available on the dcs forums

Link pls? Having trouble finding it. I do see the one from Tomcat flyer.

It’s a little tricky to find since its under his Civilian Objects mod thread.

How does the “flight model” feel?

Pretty decent I would say. It doesn’t feel as good as that of the L-39C but maybe that’s just the aircraft - I wouldn’t know, I’m not a pilot - but it behaves believably and I haven’t encountered any unexpected behaviour so far. I haven’t flown more than a couple of patterns and have only done a few barrel rolls, aileron rolls and a loop.

Other than that, it’s very easy to do a could start. I had the aircraft up and running on the first attempt in a matter of minutes without ever looking at a manual and did a short pattern around RAF Akrotiri
